BABBLEKIT

You're totally not faster than me!

Soft little pants are heard as a tiny body races across the camp. Her small white paws quickly fumbling but those bright amber eyes set in determination, filled with an act that she deems courageous and true. When she has been playing near the wall of the camp she saw something there, small but bright white in color. A small bit of meager snow that had not yet melted from the warming weather. Hidden in shadow and kept from the rays of the sun. Her mission that she is taking so serious right now is obvious to her. Within her jaws is a leaf, and when she gets back to the small tiny pile of white she lays down her leaf and begins to scoop up the small snow. Making sure to get all that she can. "I promise you won't melt! I'll take you in the nursery and keep you till it gets cold again and then you can go back outside!" Yes, she can save the snow and then it can be reunited later on with the rest of the snow. Gripping the bundle of small snow then she starts to make her way back to the nursery, trying her hardest to not fumble her small bundle.

But with slightly clumsy paws she doesn't pay attention to where she places them. Her paws grapple with the ground as she stumbles, chin hitting the ground and snow flinging outward. "No! Ah!" Looking up from where she is sprawled on the ground her leaf bundle lays empty and snow now melted against a clanmates body now has them partially soaked. She quickly gets to her paws, eyes brimming with tears but she is quick to apologize. "I'm so sorry! I didn't see you! No! It's all gone, the snow's gone! She's failed her first and only mission. Ears hang back and she shuffles her paws. "....sorry...."

anyone can be the clanmate splashed with a little bit of snow, hehe.

Doekit was struck by Babblekit's urgency and slowly crept over to where the other kitten was gathering the snow on the leaf, crouched down with wonder dancing in her eyes. She had a quiet ponder to herself, thinking about what might have made the last remnants of winter so special that her den-mate wanted to save it in the nursery. "That might be a little cold," she thought to herself, worried that the tiny chunk of snow might multiply somehow and create a flurry of fresh snowdrops. She didn't actually think this could happen, but you never know.

Perhaps she had been too quiet—too still, as Babblekit's rushed paws made for messy work. Suddenly, an icy splatter came in contact with her pelt, melting almost immediately on contact and turning her brown fur into an even darker shade. Eyes grew wide and she leaped into the sky, probably a good dozen of foxtails by way it felt (she didn't think she'd ever jumped so high before), "Brrr!"

She shivered as she landed, feeling frantic from the shock of the cold. As it faded though, she took in Babblekit's remorse and blinked rapidly at the tears in the other kit's eyes. Her heart shattered as she took in her expression and she moved to press close against her pelt, forgetting that it was wet with the now-melted snow. "It's okay," she said, trying to cheer her up. She gulped. This must have been really important to her.

"Maybe. . . Maybe there's more snow somewhere in the territory! Maybe we can ask a grown up to take us out to find some!" That seemed unlikely, but it never hurt to ask, and Babblekit seemed so sullen by the turn of events that they had to do something!
