Prepare for the worst. Defend the injured, kits and elders.
As Blazestar and his patrol had taken off, Orangeblossom had turned to face her Clanmates. "I want at least one uninjured warrior at every den, and two at the camp entrance. If you have good night vision, I want you in a tree. Kits, stay with the queens in the nursery-" She makes eye contact with a queen and nods, knowing that she can trust her denmates to fight for their lives and the lives of their charges. Queens could be surprisingly fierce, even if they had little experience in a fight. "I want two fast SkyClanners ready to run for help if we need it."
Now, in the still of night, the forest seems to hold its breath.
Digging her claws a couple of boughs above Highbranch, Orangeblossom grits her teeth against the strain in her legs and settles in for the watch. Stinging with tiredness, her dark eyes dart back and forth through the gaps in the trees. It's times like this she appreciates the sparse undergrowth between SkyClan's pines, with little obstruction in the way of watching for unfamiliar pelts that race between the trees. Unbidden, the mental image of a moor-rat smacking into a trunk crosses her mind and she snorts. But back to task. If she kept thinking about WindClanners running into trees, she'd miss one of their mange-ridden pelts fleeing campward.
"No sign of them so far." She confirms after another look around the immediate area, pitching her voice to her Clanmates.
