camp waving at the ship // 5/1 meeting

As soon as the two apprentices make their vows, she lifts her head in pride. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior names." She leaps down from the Highrock and approaches the first of the siblings. She comes to a stop in front of Lovepaw, eyes glancing over the crooked leg she now bears. It will only serve to make him stronger, she concludes, anda hard lesson learned. A lesson she has accepted through long moons recovering in the medicine cat's den. "Lovepaw, from this moment on, you will be known as Lovelight. StarClan honors your kindness and desire to help others, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan." She rests her head on top of his skull proudly before pulling away, smiling at her before she moves onto his brother.

She has to tilt her head up to look at Joypaw, a cat much larger than his littler littermate. Still, the same pride shines in verdant eyes as she gazes up at him. He had come to make the same mistake as his sibling, but she believes he has also come to understand the lesson it had taught him, and he comes out of it today a stronger, more mature warrior because of it. "Joypaw, from this moment on, you will be known as Joywing. StarClan honors your cleverness and climbing talent, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan." She has to reach up to rest her muzzle on his head, and when she feels the familiar lick to her shoulder she pulls away with a smile. Along with her clanmates, she begins to chant the two new warriors' names. "Lovelight! Joywing! Lovelight! Joywing!"

She does not climb back onto the Highrock, for there is nothing more she must say today. Instead, she backs up a few paces before nodding to the two warriors. "Tonight, you will be the first ThunderClan warriors to hold your silent vigils. Honor your clan, StarClan, and the Warrior Code tonight while you keep watch." With that, she flicks her tail and scans the crowd. "You are all dismissed."

// @lovepaw is named Lovelight for his compassion.
@joypaw is named Joywing for his skill in climbing.

♪ Like a moth to a flame ♪ ---- Mothfur sits comfortably next to his current apprentice, Dustpaw and the rest of his close clanmates. He congrats and cheers for those who have ranked up. Even with the abnormally long apprentice list, he felt his name stand out among the crowd. Another apprentice? What an honor! Mothfur felt his heart race as he looked upon his new apprentice. Yes, he would have double the workload- but he could manage. The tom nodded in agreement with his leaders compliments and rose to touch noses with Tornadokit.

Lovepaw and Joypaw were cats that Badgerstripe knew once, in the apprentice's den. They should have gotten their name with her. Knowing the grief that ThunderClan endured as the result of those ceremonies, she feels relieved that they did not. Despite considering herself their friends once, Badgerstripe's mind is lingering elsewhere, distracted by her sorrow - drowning. It's the least she can do to cheer with the others.

The rest of the meeting goes by just the same. Badgerstripe is there in presence, but not in mind. Her voice is monotone and artificial as she congratulates each of the cats named today. The only bit of familiarity that seems to hit her is Sleekserpent's named called among the rest. Summoned forward with Sparrowpaw, the young warrior has received their first apprentice. Though a twinge of jealousy hits her heart, Badgerstripe manages her first semblance of a smile since the meeting began.

After the meeting, as cats dispersed to meet their new mentors and denmates, friends and family, Badgerstripe sits stationary for a while. She was not meant to share tongues with friends and family as they had. She only wanted to retreat to her den and rest, or flee out into the forest to hunt and clear her thoughts. For whatever reason, blue paws find themselves walking through the crowd, towards the familiar face that had caught her attention earlier.

They had gotten off on the wrong paw, but it seemed they had more in common than they originally thought. Sleekserpent, though they stood their ground, was forgiving towards Badgerstripe's outburst. It was that small moment that she felt a friendship could be forged; whether or not her feelings were returned, an acquaintance was as good as a friend in her eyes. "Your first apprentice," Badgerstripe speaks. Her voice is dull, but lighter than before. "Congratulations, Sleekserpent. You'll do great."

Tornadokit is practically bursting with excitement, he struggles to sit still in the crowd - he's a little ways away from Flamewhisker and Sparrowkit and he keeps shining a grin the other soon-to-be apprentices way. His efforts to still himself while not a complete failure aren't successful either, he fidgets with his paw and his tail tip smacks up and down on the ground as he looks up towards Howlingstar. Today was the day! The first step into his destiny to become Thunderclan's leader! It's hard for him to lose his glee even at the gloomy reminder that they were missing cats parents of some of his denmates, Batwing, Leopardtongue and Flywhisker weren't in the crowd it's really sad that they aren't but he's also happy for Leafhusk who'd be taking Flywhisker's place - what an honor! He joins his voice into the celebration, he may be young but his call is not feeble his voice and loud "Leafhusk! Leafhusk!" one day his warrior name would be called out like that when he joined Howlingstar's council.

Then the moment he was waiting for, his name is called along with some of his denmates and he wastes no time in padding foward - his eyes are gleaming and his whiskers twitch. He's dreamed of this and now it was time to live it in the waking world. He may be excited but he's patient enough that when Sparrowkit and Orangekit precede him he manages to keep his cool and nods happily towards them a toothy grin spread across his muzzle. He's happy for them and he's happy he won't be speeding off to explore the territory by himself, and he had them to push him on they were both friends and good competition. They both get their mentors and finally Howlingstar's attention is on him, he straightens up puffing his chest out and holding his tail high, but he can't straighten up his face and claws knead into the ground beneath him. Tornadopaw! He was finally no longer a kitten. Though he'd naively wanted Howlingstar herself as his mentor he has no complaints when his mentor approaches. He had a apprentice already, a friend he'd train besides he hopes!

He thrusts his muzzle up to touch noses almost a little too forcibly to meet Mothfur "I'll be the best apprentice ever I promise!" he announces earnestly, he couldn't wait for Mothfur to show him around no doubt about it the young tom would have the warrior running in circles before long. He sits himself down besides him as Wrathkit becomes Wrathpaw and the most senior of apprentices come fourth. A loud purr is reverberating in his chest, his paws knead the dirt and grass he's distracted and while he hears the announcements of the new warriors names his mind is abuzz with excitement and wonder. He waits for the dismissal before he'd jump back to his paws, dancing on them awaiting his mentors orders.

It's unsurprising that it would amount to this... that life would move on at a relentless, cruel pace that didn't feel fair. She needed more time.. just a bit more time... She another few days and she'd feel normal about it she could forget the smell of Wolfwind's fur and the kind sort of laugh she had. Could pretend that maybe this had been what she wanted and things were fine and there was no reason to still... still.... still be crying over it. Doepaw shudders against a cold breeze that doesn't exist... one only she can feel, as if touched by a ghost.

There are names... ceremonies... usual goings-on. A replacement named. And a replacement named again in a way far more personal than the first. The change of Howlingstar's voice doesn't go unnoticed and at that slight shift she feels selfish... guilty.... There was no way the dark-swirled molly felt any better about this than she did. Wolfwind was her family.. and Doepaw was just some girl she knew for a couple moons.

Swallowing past the lump in her throat, she drags her attention towards a dandelion-puff of fur and grows equally afraid he will scatter apart with a harsh breath like those wild seedlings do. His voice is hushed... his touch gentle... and he sounds just as nervous as she feels. We'll be okay. Is it a promise... or a prayer? She nods, barely so... licking at dry lips to offer a meek answer, "We'll... be alright."

Maybe if they both keep saying it, one of them will believe it.

Gangly legs strode towards the center of camp, awkward in movement as Adderpaw placed himself near Leafhusk with a quick, closed smile directed her way. Now that he was beginning to enter the later stages of his apprentice age, his frame seemed to be growing faster than he could adjust to. Which shouldn't have been a problem -- in fact, he was internally leaping with joy at the fact that he was not the smallest apprentice in the den anymore. However, that led to more issues with his training. The apprentice had just gotten used to what distance he needed to be away from his opponent to swipe, perfecting his previously wide hunting stance (his hind legs would be too far spread apart beforehand, causing a lousy, face-first jump into the soil). Granted, he was improving despite the changes and better able to fix his positions from having to focus on it so much previously, but it still disheartened him to have to feel like he was starting out at square one yet again.

Snapping out of his negative haze as Howlingstar's voice rumbled through the crowd, tufted ears pinning against his head as the words rang in his ears. He had missed last moon's gathering due to over-exhaustion from his training that day (that had been on him, pushing himself past Leafhusk's planned training), and frankly he was more than okay with that. Meetings weren't his favorite setting, much like Gatherings. He didn't care enough to share in the pleasantries of celebrating new life, or new apprentices/warriors or any of the sort. The tabby tomcat rather be curled up in his nest dreaming about when he would catch his first bird.

The names mentioned in Howlingstar's ongoing speech did not mean much to a self-centered child, nose upturned as he faced his sunlight hues elsewhere from his leader's presence. It seemed like his empathy from the wolves hadn't last long, his heart having wrapped itself in a cocoon in order to protect himself from the future trauma that lay ahead. Talking with Leafhusk had helped, yes. But he was still a young boy, and to make it easier on himself he rather turn a blind eye than face whatever heartache hung in Howlingstar's words.

Ears lifted from their position against his head as his mentor's name was brought into the conversation. Leafhusk? A lead warrior? A new feeling swelled in his chest, yet somehow it didn't seem so unfamiliar. Pride. Pride in his mentor, that she had proved herself as a worthy ThunderClanner that deserved to be respected. And pride in himself, for ending up so lucky as to have such a now high-ranking mentor. Sitting up from his hunched position with his chin lifted a little too high, Adderpaw was shocked by the purr that bubbled from his throat at the news. But should he be so surprised? He respected her, and wanted it in return. He was trying to better himself so she didn't have anything else to worry about, to let her be able to sleep peacefully through the night without wondering if it was her fault for his lack of motivation (when it was clearly his). He wanted to become the greatest warrior ever -- for himself and for Leafhusk. Blinking squinted eyes, he touched his nose to her shoulder gently before pulling back timidly to clean his ruffled fur.

Once the meeting had drawn to a close after all the boring ceremonies, Adderpaw found himself standing around with hesitation while contemplating if he should just leave back to his nest. But, he pushed past the overwhelmingly large knot tying in his stomach and cracked a slanted grin. "You deserve it, Leafhusk. So, uh, congratulations, I guess." Maybe not the correct thing to say, but he supposed it was better than nothing.
