  THEIR STORY: Whether pre-ordained or entirely by chance, it seems like Flintwish and Ashenfall’s lives were meant to circle each others’. It begins in their late childhood, the heat of Greenleaf giving way to a chill of premonition, followed swiftly by Yellowcough sweeping over the clans, and Shadowclan is no exception. Starlingheart, motivated by fear for her son’s life, gives two of the three doses of lungwort the clan has, leaving some patients to go untreated. One of these being Halfshade, then-Ashenpaw’s mother, who dies in childbirth following her battle with Yellowcough. Ashenpaw, grief-stricken and looking for someone to tie to his misery alongside him, confronts Flintpaw, telling them that he cannot forgive them for their part in taking his mother away from him.
  
  The moons to follow were ridden by betrayal and tragedy, with Flintpaw’s father Granitepelt and aunt Siltcloud being found out as being perpetrators of multiple murders within the clan, and for being behind the kidnapping of Ashenpaw’s younger siblings. As he stands trial, Granitepelt implores his kits to follow him in exile before he is chased out of the territory. Shortly after, Ghostpaw and Flintpaw are both discovered missing, and search parties are sent out throughout the territory. Ghostpaw will be nowhere to be found, and will go unfound for many moons after, but Flintpaw is only missing briefly.
  
  Ashenpaw finds him curled in a tree hollow, and Flintpaw tells him that he surely hates him, to which Ashenpaw denies this with just as much defiance. Ashenpaw then sits with him until he can be coaxed back to camp, and it is then that their relationship is tied together by something that looks a lot more like friendship, however odd that may appear.
  
  Of course, there would be no shortage of stress and tragedy for the clan to face in the moons to come, and just as much in their respective interpersonal lives. Flintpaw’s brother Nettlepaw is murdered by a mystery attacker the clan does not yet know is Ghostpaw, and Flintpaw becomes a graveyard-frequenter alongside Ashenpaw, who had found himself at the cemetery nearly every day following the death of Halfshade.
  
  Granitepelt, who became the leader of Duskclan following his departure from Shadowclan and then Windclan, succumbs to infection from his injuries after an ambush on Windclan, and dies on Shadowclan territory. Flintwish asks if they will bury the body, and Ashenfall advocates for this, and her murderous father now remains in an unmarked grave outside of Shadowclan territory.
  
  Time passes, and the two remain close even as the seasons of Shadowclan change. Smogstar is named leader following Chilledstar losing their final life, and once again it is late Greenleaf when Ashenfall and Flintwish confess to each other a desire to stay by each other’s side for as long of a forever they are allowed.
  
  With lives intertwined together by death and betrayal, fate seems to have planned for them to be enemies. Instead, they have chosen to—fiercely, defiantly—love each other.
  
  In quick succession, they become mates and Ashenfall proposes the idea of expanding their family with a litter of kittens. Flintwish agrees, and despite their mutual anxieties and the looming threat of tragedy to come, they are happy together. They decide to ask a favor of a friend of theirs to achieve this, and in the first days of Leaf-fall, their litter is on the way.
  
  They could not expect that their lives would change so drastically within just a month, with Ghostmask being revealed as an attempted murderer, an ill Smogstar disappearing into the night, and Ashenfall’s littermate Applejaw being murdered near the Thunderclan border. Ashenfall is wracked with grief, and the future their kittens will be born into is still unsure, but the couple have hope for a life much gentler for their kittens than they had.

He is born all teeth - not in the feral sense of the word, not intimidating in the slightest. Cream fur breaks from rain-colored pelage like sunlight through stormclouds. And that is what Valorkit is at his core: all smiles, comparable to the sun with his bright disposition ( even accentuated by the sun-like marking upon his left shoulder ).

The LaPerm fur and mismatched eyes are mementos left by his RiverClan sire. Burly-framed and compact, Valorkit is built for combat. He adores this, as he feels useful in defending his family and Clan from harm ( like a hero of sorts, a savior.​

Valorkit couldn't be any more different than his parents. Loud and brash, he perfectly encapsulates what a jock is. SH RED TABBY W/LOW WHITE
He is born mostly average, what seems like the perfect picture of a healthy kit in the mess and much of childbirth. The right sized ears, paws too big for his body that he will for sure grow into, but when it comes time to nurse for the first time he has problems latching properly, and though he does eventually get it it's noticed his face is a little off, his bottom jaw off-centered just enough to the right to struggle with tasks that require it at first but he gets over it, he perseveres, and life goes on.

Short haired he never struggles with keeping his fur however he likes it, whether it be messy for training or clean for meetings and sleeping, he has a white blaze that touches the top of his nose and ends in a point at his forehead. All four paws have white on them, though some more than others with his front right paw and back left reaching up and stopping at elbows and hocks while his front left stops at his ankle, and back right is just a single toe of white. All four are kept clean for important things - promotions and vigils mainly - but due to how much work it is to keep a white coat clean in the swamplands of his clan they're usually stained a brownish color. A white belly and a stripe down his back is usually in check however, not wanting the fur that would be so close to others when cuddling to be messy for fear that he'd get mud on his friends.

As he grows into his paws and tail, more muscle builds up that shows well in the harsh territory of the swamp, though as his face grows larger alongside his body, the deformaty in his jaw becomes more noticeable, no longer so small that it would have to be something you're looking for to see it. Some of his teeth begin poking out at this stage of his life, baby teeth lost as adult teeth grow in. By the time he's fully grown it is likely the first thing cats notice about him, but he doesn't mind.

STUBBORN He believes he can do anything he puts his mind into, it is the first and last conscious thought that he has. If there is something he cannot do but believes he should be able to he will practice until he gets it, and will not accept no as an answer. It is seen from birth in nursing to being an apprentice and learning how to do things around his disability to being a warrior and simply surviving in the hostile marshes.

UNDERSTANDING Despite his stubbornness with himself, he is understanding to a fault when it comes to those around him and their abilities. He is a "do as I say not as I do" cat when it comes to his advice, and his advice is pretty good! He doesn't allow his friends to overexert themselves, will give them tips on how to make things easier, and is overall the type to mirror the emotions on those close to him. He becomes sad when they're sad, happy and excited when they're happy and excited, and angry when they're angry. He's there for those he cares about, and excuses their actions if he or another is hurt by those he cares about. Maybe they were just having a bad day, maybe a bad year, either way he's there for them when they're feeling better.

DEPENDABLE He would gladly lay his life down for his clan and those within it, and always with a smile. He doesn't love the thrill of the fight but would go into battle to protect another happily, once everything is said and done he makes sure those around him are well before looking after himself. He can keep a secret if needed, or if someone can't tell another something because they're embarrassed or simply don't know how to say it he'll volunteer to do so so that they can get it over with if wanted.

NOSEY Despite his dependable nature and his ability to keep a secret he's pretty nosey, and wants to be involved in as much as possible. If someone is speaking in hushed tones and he notices he'll do his best to sneak over near them to be able to hear whatever's being talked about better. If someone wants to talk poorly about another clanmate he's there to listen in even if he doesn't participate in it, and if something is happening within the leader's den like a meeting with the council he's right outside hidden away with his ear against the roots so that he can be the first one to hear any news that would be shared at a later date.

SIBLING DYNAMICS
Compared to his brother he's a little more humble, where Promisekit has a bigger head from having family in the ranks he keeps an eye on those family members to learn from and try to mimic. He wants to do great things one day and believes that being exactly like these cats who have already come so far and done so great is the proper way to do it. He plays off his brother's want for gifts well with the need to give gifts and physical affection to those he loves, maybe this is where he develops that touch being his love language. Could potentially be Promisekit's "voice of reason" in some situations to play off the luck of avoiding death in apprenticehood, potentially there in the background to help make sure nothing bad happens to the other.

HOLLOWKIT With a name like his how could he not be either obsessed or scared of death and the afterlife. Will be devoted to StarClan either way, though it could come from a place of wonder and amazement or a place of worry and fear depending on what happens icly. With the first it would be worship coming from a place of learning about the history of the clans, watching in awe as Mirestar dies and comes back to lead another day due to the gifts that StarClan bestowed upon him if clanmates react in a more neutral or positive way. If they were to react negatively however he'd be more likely to be devout to StarClan in fear of his own death, praying to them nightly so that he isn't swept away by StarClan too soon, potential plot here where he learns of the cats that betrayed ShadowClan and believes them to be bad because they don't believe in StarClan, and a potential for him to be visited by someone in the Dark Forest due to this fear of what would happen if he stops believing.

MERCYKIT Admittedly my favorite of the list, simply because of the implications of what it could mean for the kit in the future, a feeling of destiny and sense of self given to him by his parents with this name. With this name he feels like he has to follow that and give mercy to those he would much rather kill or hurt horribly while an apprentice and young warrior going through that worse part of the stubborn stage. Anything that contradicts this merciless behavior would make him feel guilt for days, potentially a plot where he'd properly learn by force that mercy could be both a good and bad thing (having to kill a clanmate due to their condition that would lead to a long slow painful death otherwise or potentially granting mercy to someone who came back to harm the clan or his family in some way afterwards)

TINYKIT Potential for him to be made fun of for his name, potential resentment for himself and his parents for a little bit for naming him this but eventually comes back around once he remembers/realizes that the name he was given came from love. It turns into him being a voice for the "smaller" of the clan, those that get bullied can come to him and trust him to listen and stand up for them, knowing that he would fight the bullies for them if needed whether it be verbally or physically depending on who the bully is (he wouldn't attack an apprentice while he's a warrior for example). Warrior name would be something to offset the prefix to show his devotion to be a hero, to be the one cats can depend on in a battle.

An underwhelmingly sized kitten who would carry the same shrunken stature throughout her life, taking after her father Ashenfall in regards to her inability to grow into anything particularly impressive from a physical standpoint. At first glance, she is quite the fragile thing, lacking in muscle and instead replacing any defining features of strength with something much more scrawny and delicate. Her fur is particularly soft and flows gracefully along with her movements, what she lacks in brawn she makes up for with beauty that she perhaps will never even realize she possesses. Thickly lashed eyelids fall heavily over strikingly azure optics, which are oftentimes scrunched beneath a heavy squint, sensitive to even the most dimly lit rays of light. Her silken pelt takes up warmer colors not often seen roaming the ranks of ShadowClan, a trait that makes her stand out amongst her peers like a sore thumb at times, the mixture of pale creams and deep orange hues like a little piece of starlight that fell directly into cataclysmic forest, slicing through endless void with ease.

PERSONALITY. Her personality is as soft as her pelt, a gentle soul with an abundance of love to give beneath a fragile surface. She is of the sensitive type, highly empathetic to all she meets regardless of their shortcomings and is very devoted to the concept of second chances and the goodness hidden within the core of everyone. Quite the shy creature, she is almost always found plastered to the side of her parents or her sibling, oftentimes hiding behind their frames in an attempt to conceal herself from the prying eyes of those who she is less familiar with. Very devoted to her family, they mean everything to her, and she would do anything just to ensure their happiness. Somewhat clumsy and not always the most observant, she may trip over her own two feet or drift off into her own internal world in the middle of conversation, a ditzy dreamer being a term you could use to describe her as well. Generally, she gets along well with others despite the initial effort it takes to get her to run off and play with other kits or interact with older clanmates. She may rely on her parents or her sibling to insert her into social interactions initially lest she never find the courage to make the attempt herself, however once the ice is broken she shows much more of her true self. Fun loving and creative at her center, she loves to pass the time by making little trinkets and collecting things such as feathers and foliage, both of which she gifts in mass to her family and friends as a form of affection. Almost a little bit too soft spoken, she has the tendency to mumble when she talks, her head often bowed down so that her voice cannot carry itself into the ears of those before her. She lacks confidence, but is not afraid to stand up for what she believes to be right, and will defend the wellbeing and aspirations of others even if the concept of confrontation terrifies her. Overall, her heart is as pure as a ShadowClan cat's could ever get, and she does not shy away from displaying it even if the harsh life of an upcoming warrior tries to guide her steps towards an opposing direction.

• Loves both her parents deeply for different reasons and is extremely affectionate towards the both of them. Enjoys physical closeness and cuddles, oftentimes presses her head against either of them when she wishes to be doted upon.
• Her eyes are very sensitive to light in her adolescence, the only time she is able to have them open in their entirety being when she is inside the darkened nursery or in the dead of night. This is something that improves with age, however it does not go away completely. (It does not impair her though! Just causes a slight squint.)
• Her pelt will become more adorned with age, her fur growing slightly longer in some places so that it is wispy and silken in appearance (should genetics allow) and holding a multitude of bug wings, feathers, and flowers within their strands. She is highly decorative and enjoys decorating others, the possibility of her parents and sibling also becoming adorned with things of similar nature in the coming months highly likely should it be allowed!
