──ᨒ↟↟ᨒ↟ᨒ↟↟ᨒ── He might have suspected this eventuality, but after yellowcough swept through WindClan the first time, Wolfsong was completely untouched. It was easy to assume the same now, that perhaps StarClan extended some protection for WindClan's remaining medicine cat. With Cottonsprig missing and Celandinepaw still so very green, the situation is no less dire than it was last time— and yet as Wolfsong returns to the badger set for those still too deep in recovery to return to camp, the lingering malaise from the past few days seems to tire of being ignored. He drags in a deep breath and realizes his chest is even tighter. The ache in his throat he attributed to drinking less water in his work-driven fugue is far too painful for simple dryness.
It settles deep in his belly, a heavy stone disturbing soft soil at the bottom of a river.
He does not yet turn to Celandinepaw; instead, he slowly shuffles farther into the den. It is slightly emptier, in part due to Quietcrow's death, which has followed Wolfsong's steps like a carrion beast. Perhaps it will take him with it.
Sitting down, he drops the lungwort he brought and shudders through another breath. "Celandinepaw," he calls at last. "I must...entrust you with a greater burden than I anticipated." His rasp is much heavier than it normally is. "I will be here until I am well again. You must— you must be careful." He finds her eyes and holds them with urgency, and he knows he must trust that if nothing else, StarClan and her own strength will guide her through. "You will be WindClan's only caretaker." Wolfsong swallows and then grimaces. "But do not tell Sunstar. Not yet. Tell him I am simply...monitoring a patient here for a while." WindClan's leader should not be distracted by such concern for him.
Wolfsong dips his head to bite at the lungwort, breathing harshly through the taste and his own discomfort until it's swallowed completely. He looks back up at her then. Celandinepaw will not see him afraid, he decides. And why should he be? He is healthy, he is strong— he will recover, and resume teaching her everything he knows. "It will be all right," he says warmly, tiredly. "But I need you to take care of them until I can."

this is in the badger set, so it's open to the other patients! no need to wait :)

— ★★★☆☆ WOUNDS: You're (mostly) in safe paws. You'll know if he's less experienced if he asks for your permission to try a treatment. No wound can scare him away from knowledge.
— ★★★☆☆ INFECTION: He can prevent most infections. If you feel feverish, let him know; he'll hum thoughtfully over herbs and sniff your wound before saying, "With your blessing..." -
— ★☆☆☆☆ ACHES & PAINS: If you complain to him of pain, he'll ask where. If it's a headache, you'll likely feel a bit better. For anything else, "Try this, if you'd like, and tell me how you feel."
— ★☆☆☆☆ BROKEN BONES: At best. he can ask you to remain lying down in the den. He may try to distract you with conversation while he considers what herb to feed you. -
— ★★★★★ TRAVELING HERBS: Going somewhere? No worries; Wolfsong knows just what you need to stay hale and healthy during your journey. The rest is up to you.
— ★★★☆☆ KITTING: Thanks to Starlingheart and his own pregnancy, he's better prepared for the arrival of kits, but any complications will need a little faith and a lot of luck. -
— ★☆☆☆☆ POISONS: It's best if you avoid eating anything unfamiliar to you— it's probably just as unfamiliar to Wolfsong. The best he can do is offer you yarrow and sit with you.
— ★★★☆☆ ILLNESS: If it's white or greencough, you'll likely recover. Otherwise, prepare for odd concoctions and the usual request that you consent to a little trial-and-error.
