    named for his fever coat, slateheart was born with an ashy-grey cape that gradually gave way to a void-black pelt. despite being born outside of windclan, at a glance anyone would guess he was a pure-blood moor runner with his long, well-muscled legs, tall stature and well-worn paws with a strong connection to the moorland. his only markings consist of a white 'v' shape on his chest, and low patches of white on his toes and tail tip - and contrasting his dark colors are green eyes, bright under the sunlight and forest-like in the dark.
    
    slateheart's visible battle scars consist of a torn left ear, a nick under his right eye, and large (yet thin) scars on both flanks.

  • INTROVERTED / EMPATHETIC / AWKWARD / RESILIENT / ANXIOUS / LOYAL once a cold and guarded cat under the oppression of his father and sootstar, slateheart has shown remarkable improvements in his social life as he grows and re-connects with his clanmates. when socializing with others, slateheart appears awkward and uncertain, either carefully choosing his words or blurting out the first to come to his mind. unlike the older cats of the clan with moons of wisdom to their words, slateheart is no poet and speaks his thoughts as they are - sometimes appearing blunt or insensitive. as a result of this, slateheart is very easily embarrassed by his own mistakes, profusely apologizing and sulking over his shame for excessively long times. while slateheart can question his place in his clan and often feels uncertain about his belonging, he is a loyal and dutiful warrior to the end. working hard is his specialty - hunting and completing chores is a comfort to him, something he has done for moons as a distraction but now does to cure his boredom and prove his place in the clan. though, in his free time, he may also enjoy running through the moors, racing others or chatting over shared prey. in battle, slateheart is a formidable foe - vicious and guiltless, he will fight tooth and claw for those he loves. however, this does not come without honor and empathy; slateheart has been known to ask questions first and shoot last, as well as offering mercy to the vulnerable - but when push comes to shove, he does not back down. ​ ​

    KIT APPLICATION THREAD. slate was born to adelaide and her mate, silverfoot. both mothers were loving and protective, and with his siblings gravel and ash, he knew only happiness in his early days. slateheart fondly looks back on the days that he would play with his siblings by day and cuddle up to his mothers at night.
    
    the kittens' sanctuary came to an abrupt end when a menacing moor-cat named lynx arrived, seeking revenge on adelaide for 'stealing his kits' from him. while silverfoot and ash were away on a walk, lynx took the opportunity to slay adelaide, revealing himself as the kits' father afterword and threatening the same fate on them if they refused to go with him. slate and gravel were then taken away to windclan, where they became slatepaw and gravelpaw, two promised soldiers to sootstar.

    upon receiving their apprentice names, gravelpaw was apprenticed to houndstride and slatepaw was apprenticed to his father, lynxtooth, who trained him with excessive cruelty, treating him as a punching bag and an outlet for his frustrations. slatepaw was viewed by his father as a humiliation and a disappointment, and was treated as such, even infront of other cats. while his brother thrived amongst the hostile environment and found an idol in sootstar, slatepaw became increasingly reclusive and irritable in the shadow of his 'golden child' brother, even struggling to interact with his fellow apprentices - though he often hung around to get a glimpse of who he could trust. any attempts at socializing with others are often followed by silence - under the watchful gaze of his expectant father, Slatepaw found himself unable to speak at all, despite the other apprentice's attempts to include him - stunned with anxiety, and fear of his father's oppressive nature.[/color][/url]
    
    on one fateful patrol at the riverclan border, slatepaw is shocked to see his long lost sister, ashpaw, on the other side. the two recognize and greet each other, much to the annoyance and concern of lynxtooth, and meet again to discuss the circumstances of their separation. it is then that slatepaw informs her that adelaide was killed by their father, and he additionally finds out that his other mother, silverfoot, resides alive in riverclan. unfortunately, this is the last time they meet as tensions grow between the clans.

    —— YOUNG ADULTHOOD​
    at long last, after moons of enduring his father's abuse, slatepaw is finally ready to become a warrior. unlike his brother, though, slatepaw finds it hard to anticipate his warrior ceremony, an apathy which is further cemented when he receives the name of slatetooth, in honor of his father - and a symbolism of the strong, ruthless warrior that sootstar wants him to be.
    
    after moons of seclusion and at the height of tension within the clan, slatetooth makes an awkward attempt at reconnecting with his brother, gravelsnap, who he has pushed away for the majority of his apprenticeship, which fails for the time being. during this time, slatetooth also begins to show open resentment towards sootstar's loyalists, a stark contrast to his meek acceptance of them as an apprentice.
    
    after sunstride is outed as a traitor to sootstar for returning shadowclan's stolen kits, slatetooth takes his side in the battle and fights against harbringermoon and nightmarefouce, denouncing their wrongly-placed loyalty as dishonorable and losing a chunk of his ear in the process. with the belief that windclan took everything from him, he disagrees with their claims that he is throwing everything away, and solidifies his stance as one of sunstride's followers - the rebels. during this father, slatetooth comes face-to-face with his father. in his anger and disappointment that has built up for moons, lynxtooth attacks him. slatetooth eventually kills him, putting a tragic (yet triumphant) end to his father's grip over his life.
    
    chased from their camp, sunstride's followers take shelter in horseplace while they gather their numbers and prepare to take back their home. following a terrific blizzard, slatetooth comes across a stranded kitten on the brink of death and brings him back to the barn. the kitten is later named blizzardkit and is looked after by most of the clan, though slatetooth forms a particular bond with him, viewing him as a little brother and opting to spend time with him and ensure his safety in the barn. during this time, he also befriends another warrior named rattleheart, bonding over their shared affection for blizzardkit. the two promise each other that, if one shall fall in the coming battle, the other would make sure blizzardkit is safe and looked after.
    
    in the final battle between sunstride and sootstar, slatetooth is attacked by harbringermoon, who is expecting kits. he obtains a wound on his flanks from the opposing warrior, but refuses to attack, and eventually chases him out of camp so he can bear his kits in safety. with windclan reclaimed by sunstride, slatetooth begins to take a series of steps towards establishing new friendships with his clanmates and building trust, including paying visits to harbringermoon's kits (who were brought to windclan after their father's death) and their milk-mother nightingalecry, bonding with blizzardkit, and even finally re-kindling a relationship with his brother, gravelsnap.

    in sunstar's first meeting to the clan, slatetooth is proudly renamed to slateheart in honor of his resilience and courage, a final act of defiance towards his late father and a checkpoint in his independence and freedom. as newleaf arrives, slateheart embarks on a new journey towards finding his belonging in the clan and getting to know his clanmates. he befriends a warrior named dimmingsun, continues to watch over blizzardkit, and spends some time reminiscing about the past and hoping for the future with gravelsnap. however, not all is as easy as that - slateheart quickly finds a dislike in some of sootstar's loyalists that stayed behind, and similarly struggles with his self-confidence in the face of scorn from the other clans.

A THUNDERCLAN HOPE LITTER
BADGERSTRIPE had a rather easy upbringing, an only child to cherishing (and spoiling) parents. She was an outgoing and confident kitten who grew quickly into a brave and fun-loving apprentice. With an abundance of friends and big dreams, the girl saw life as fun and games, and lacked responsibility.. Ultimately leading to the risky decisions made during the night of her warrior ceremony.

A newly named Badgerstripe and her friends were eager to begin work, only to be assigned to guard duty by their leader, Howlingstar. Determined to give herself and her friends a memorable night, a girl's night out if you will, the young tortoiseshell lead her reluctant friends into the territory that night, only to return to a vulnerable camp ravaged by wolves.

With pride gone to her head, Badgerstripe finds herself unable to cope with being the talk of the Clan, and less willing to accept that she had been responsible for the death of some cats' beloved family members and friends. She spirals into a depression, withdrawing herself from the Clan and her closest friends - and it is then, at the worst of her bitterness, that she meets Sleekserpent, a mysteriously withdrawn warrior who does not seem to scorn her based on her actions, and offers her somewhat of a fresh start..

A BOND IS FORGED between the two warriors, who find comfort in that neither one has a solid place in the Clan.. but at least they have each other.

However, as tensions rise in the Clan, so too do they rise between the two young warriors. After her many trials and tribulations, Badgerstripe begins to re-build her old friendships, and become at least part of the kind and empathetic warrior she was once named for. At the same time, Sleekserpent finds herself integrated into a group of feisty warriors that show growing concern and distaste over the kittypet-blooded population of ThunderClan. Desperate to remain in her friend's company, Badgerstripe puts up with the 'harmless' gossip and talk of change (all the while trying to coerce Sleekserpent into ditching his friends for hers) - until bodies of beloved Clanmates start to show up murdered by the very cats her dearest friend associates with.

At the peak of tensions, Skyclaw takes over ThunderClan, and the rest is history. Emboldened, a prideful Sleekserpent finds his ground amongst the cats that now reign their home while holding protectiveness of his own over Badgerstripe. Disagreements between the two flare more and more, as the latter becomes increasingly irritable and upset by the regime and Sleekserpent's acceptance of it - but in their moments of peace, she finds that even with their differences, no other cat seems to understand her and take care of her the way Sleekserpent does..

After a long week of butting heads and increasingly explosive arguments, a distraught Badgerstripe is soon stumbled upon by Flamewhisker, who sees an unexpected meaning in the molly's heightened emotions and recent sickness - it is then that she discovers she is expecting kits, and shares the news with a delighted Sleekserpent. Fearful for the future of these kits, that they will be apprenticed to killers and raised with hate by their peers, the newly-discovered mother holds her breath as she awaits the change that Flamewhisker was rallying.

AND THEN, ADMIST A TERRIBLE STORM, a battle breaks out between the righteous and the villainous to decide the fate of ThunderClan. It is within that Badgerstripe confronts Sleekserpent, and offers her a final chance to change: if she were to survive on the wrong side of history, she would never see her kits. The pair parts on a solemn note, with Sleekserpent rushing into battle and Badgerstripe taking refuge in the nursery. She stumbles upon his body after the battle, beaten with a grief-stricken expression, and silently vows that her kits would be raised with peace and compassion, as to not follow their lost parent's pawsteps.

This litter is not FCFS. Apps will be open until Oct. 4 and will be named here once decided. This litter will remain at two slots only with one slot reserved, for a total of three kits. Kits will be introduced at two moons old on Oct. 7, aging realistically on the 7th of each month. As Badgerstripe is my current main, I am hoping for between 5-10 posts minimum per month from players, but the hard requirement for activity is 5 posts per month. During apprenticeship and beyond, if kits are not posted with for two months without notice, I reserve the right to rehome. The litter must remain in ThunderClan until adulthood and preferably even longer, unless plot calls for it. Please reach out to me if you have a plot in mind leading to exile, leaving or death! There is no set form - but please include the basics such as name, gender, appearance, and personality or personality concept. All kits will be born with fever coat. This will go away between four and (in rare cases) twelve moons at your discretion! Despite her initial fear and uncertainty about having kits, Badgerstripe will love and cherish these kits. She will be highly protective and will adopt a helicopter parenting style. There is room for angst due to their other parent's misdeeds and Badgerstripe's over-protection, but there will be no abuse or neglect from Badgerstripe. If you wish for your kitten to have a mental or physical disability, please research the condition appropriately and play it with respect.

• A newly-made queen of ThunderClan, Badgerstripe's life has been full of ups and downs - usually, in regards to her own actions and their dire consequences. With the settling of a new era of ThunderClan, she must push forward once more into a new chapter of her life, clinging to hope despite the troubling circumstances that brought her here. ​

  BADGERSTRIPE is a blue tortoiseshell with heart-shaped swirls, one white ear, and a distinct black stripe for which she was named.
  
  Badgerstripe is a current queen of ThunderClan, expecting her first little of kits sired by an old friend, Sleekserpent. Badgerstripe was raised in ThunderClan, born a single child to two warriors and named for her distinct black stripe. Due to the coddling nature of her parents, Badgerkit was a rambunctious troublemaker with ease; but this did not stop her from making friends wherever she went, as a charismatic and confident kitten. On her fourth moon, Badgerpaw was apprenticed to Ashspirit - but towards the end of her apprenticeship, she was reassigned to Burnstorm to finish her training as her former mentor moves into the elder's den.
  
  Badgerstripe is named a warrior alongside her friends Lightflower, Palefire and Phloxdawn for the virtues of will and empathy, of which she doesn't seem to understand yet. Eager to begin their work, the newly named warriors beg for their first warrior duty, only to be assigned the task of guarding camp, which the young and antsy Badgerstripe finds to be menial and not worth their time. Insistent on celebrating the night of their warriorhood in a more meaningful way than 'simple, boring guard duty', she coaxes her friends into leaving camp with her for a girls' night out. Unbeknownst to them, a wolf pack that had been threatening their territory is watching keenly, and capitalizes on the absence of ThunderClan's guards..
  
  Through a depression fueled by the death of some Clanmates and the scorn her Clanmates now regard her with, Badgerstripe withdraws from her Clan socially and becomes a shell of her once bubbly and confident self. It is then that she meets Sleekserpent, another outcast, whom she forms a strong, dependent bond with.
  
  Moons after, Badgerstripe seeks to better herself and become a true warrior once again, and slowly mends her friendship with Lightflower and Palefire. During Skyclaw's takeover after the murders inflicted by them upon several kittypet-born cats of ThunderClan, Badgerstripe's relationship with Sleekserpent becomes strained as her friend shows his true colors as one of Skyclaw's loyal followers, and the two find themselves at increasing odds. As her emotions increase, inflicting a wrath of temper upon others and finding herself in tears over trivial things, Badgerstripe discovers that she is pregnant with Sleekserpent's kits - and during the battle to decide ThunderClan's fate, she threatens that he will never see his kits if he makes the choice of fighting for Skyclaw.
  
  With Sleekserpent slain by another warrior during the battle, Badgerstripe is left to raise her kits alone - a curse and a blessing. But, with Flamestar coming into lead and her friends beginning to repair their bond with her (including Tigerwing, a childhood friend that returned after moons of disappearance), Badgerstripe is hopeful for the days to come; even if they are shrouded in uncertainty.

  Badgerstripe is a long-furred, bulky molly with vibrant green eyes. She is a blue tortoiseshell with large heart-shaped, cream swirls trailing across most of her body and upper legs. She has one white ear, and a black dorsal stripe tailing from her forehead all the way to the tip of her tail. Her long fur gives her the appearance of a large, round cat; but underneath, she is well-muscled and bulky, reminiscent of an ideal ThunderClan-born physique.

• Badgerstripe has been subject to many differences in personality due to her upbringing and the consequences that have resulted from her many wrongdoings. After all is said and done, her personality has settled into a conglomeration of her many traits throughout time, both good and bad.
  
  Generally, Badgerstripe is a well-meaning and friendly cat, who is both easy to approach and quick to approach others. Though not as charismatic as she used to be, and not as boisterous either, she has grown into the empathy for which she was named by Howlingstar and proves to be a valuable listener above all. Throughout the many trails of her life, she has grown out of her child-like arrogance, but still sports a strong and brave heart that is now put to use as the defender of those she loves.
  
  Of course, not all cats are pure good, and Badgerstripe is no exception. While she has mostly redeemed herself from the callous, snappy and cold warrior she was after the wolf invasion, there are still some resemblances to this solemn time that peek through occasionally. Her intent may not be malicious, but her words still often has undesired effects - with as short of patience and temper as she has, she is quick to snap.
  
  FRIENDLY
  
  While she is not as outgoing as she was in her apprenticehood, Badgerstripe is still a welcoming presence to most cats. She does not discriminate between ThunderClanners based on their origin, and has even been polite with neighboring Clans, going as far as to condemn unnecessary aggression. A friend made is usually long-lasting until her ire is earned.
  
  BRAVE
  
  Badgerstripe's bravery now is only a fraction of the arrogance she once held, but it still makes her a formidable foe nonetheless. Many times has she stood her ground, even with her life as a warrior (or life, period) on the line; even against the sire of her kits, a friend she once held dear. Standing up for herself and for her friends comes easy to her, but seldom does she consider the consequences until it is too late.
  
  SHORT-TEMPERED
  
  As kind as empathetic as she is, Badgerstripe struggles notoriously with her temper and patience. When time is of the essence, she is always in a hurry, urgently pushing others towards the goal that needs to be met and rarely slowing down for someone else to catch up. To cats that are negative in personality, she allows very little leniency.

• Born on the night of the eclipse, during which the sun was swallowed by a foreboding shadow, Shroudedpaw is forever scarred by the legacy that fateful day leaves on him and his siblings. A living consequence of the circumstances of his birth and the ill bearings his parents spoke of from whence he was born, he is a quiet, calculative boy with delusions of self-importance that he, himself, has not yet been able to crack. While his denmates build meaningful relationships and navigate adolescence, Shroudedpaw is stuck in a perpetual cycle of searching the stars for the meaning behind his prophesized birth, and for his purpose in life - be that good or bad, he intends to see it through.​
