CORE OF NATURE & . THUNDERCLAN EVACUATION #3

Hollow Tree’s heart was racing with fear. Smoke burned her lungs and eyes as she followed her clan mates and the Riverclanners back to camp. The heat was heavy and a lingering reminder that no cat could stay here for long. Cats began to go their own way and help those who were stuck. Her eyes caught Stagpaw who was near Emberstar. She knew the leader would watch after her apprentice.

The brown she-cat was keeping her eyes out for Cricketpaw. Her daughter. A feline she hadn’t seen since this all went down. She prayed to Starclan that her kid was in Riverclan. Somewhere safe and not trapped somewhere with the deadly flames all around them. She recognizes the voice of her mother and sees Graystorm was nearby. Leaping over, she looks at the branch that is trapping them. What were they supposed to do?

“Mama! Little Wolf!” she called into the trapped den, trying to see them beyond the flames and smoke. Regretting speaking as her lungs inhale the smoke. Causing her to cough harshly. “Sloepaw. Don’t worry- cough- we’ll get you out of there.” the warrior says firmly despite her coughs. She looks to Graystorm, wondering if they had any ideas on how to free them. Hollow begins to try and push against the branch to try and get it to break apart so it would be easier to move.

"WE ARE THE BROKEN ONES, WHO CHOSE TO SPARK A FLAME"
A Riverclanner is beside her suddenly, urgently asking after Roe and Stag. Telling her that those in the Elder's den would come after. She nodded, though not as much in agreement as in acceptance. She was certain she could keep those two out now that the entrance was clear, but anything could be happening to those trapped in the dens. Arguing though, would just delay them all. Better to go with the plan as to get it all done quicker.

Emberstar did, however, refuse the offered assistance with a shake of her head. "I'll be fine." She claimed curtly. "I'm sure there's someone else who needs your assistance more." Her clanmates didn't have lives to spare like she did, they should always be the priority.

Through the smoke, Roekit's cries caught her ear. She lead Buckgait through the smog toward the kit. "We're here. We are going to get you out." She reassured.

Apart from his singed tail, Tybalt was for the most part, uninjured. He'd remained near Emberstar for a short period, and then resumed his darting about the camp looking to free anyone who was actually in need of help. He'd refused to flee the camp when ordered, but apart from the smoke entering his lungs, he was far better off than anybody who didn't have a choice of leaving.

It's Finchcatcher that he turns his attention to first. He seemed to have gone unnoticed, despite his burns. And he wouldn't last much longer if he couldn't even stand. Tybalt grabbed the warrior's scruff between his teeth, attempting to haul him upwards and shoulder his weight. "C'mon," he said, his voice muffled from the other tom's fur in his mouth. "It'll hurt like all hell, but you'll get out of here." His voice was raspy, and his chest felt tight.

THIS WEIGHT ON MY NECK MAKES IT HARD TO CONNECT
Hollow Tree's response spun his hope high, spurring his onslaught against the den wall. Sloepaw was weak, undoubtedly, but with the help of the others, he might be able to be strong enough to get them out. A whine of effort left his maw, paws ripping at the obstruction where the tabby's weight fell on it. Each tug tore away at the structure, drawing ash and loose branches onto their heads. After one hefty shove, the apprentice sucked in a laboured breath. Embers touched his throat, smoke-thick air shuttering his system into a shock of coughs.

Head swimming with silt, the fog fanned the dismay clung to his thoughts. Sloepaw lurched back, folding his frame in order to push past the splutters that wracked him. "Someone- try, I can't" The wall was beginning to fall away, soot sky barely visible through the smog, but he hadn't managed to force his way through. Wooziness, aches- they strung his body up into exhaustion. If he wasn't so fearful, he might have been disappointed in himself. His daily attempts to conserve energy meant nothing in the face of a true disaster.

With almost all hope lost, the warrior feels a tug at the back of his neck. At first, Finchcatcher flinches back, expecting an attack - a killing blow at his throat to put him out of his misery. But, as the tugging continues, as a voice speaks, he realizes he's wrong.

Help had come for him. By some miracle, Finchcatcher was being saved.

Though it's a shaky, pain-filled movement, the young warrior is able to rise to his paws with the help of his savior - a brown-furred tom that must be similar in age to him, though, perhaps a little younger. Finchcatcher isn't sure, but doesn't have the time to wonder about such a detail. Not in the midst of a fire.

"Thank... Thank you," he speaks, voice hoarse from the smoke as he leans against the feline, a hint of surprise carried in his words. He isn't sure how he'll be able to move - how far he'll be able to walk - but, his likelihood to survive this was now heightened. And, for that, he was grateful for the tom by his side.
