SURFACE PRESSURE [skyclan rescue attempt/OPEN]

.°☀ I'll believe it all

There was a commotion of doors being swung open that drew the young warrior from her slumber as she lifted her head rather dazed. What was going on? She didn't understand and furrowed her brow in confusion for a moment- then spotted Wyrms face amongst the darkness. What was he doing here? Had he also been caught? Though the white-faced warrior seemed to struggle with the contraption of the cage door before it finally opened, making a loud crashing noise in the process making her fur bristle. Was he insane? He was going to get them all killed! Or wose than that, stuck here forever.

Bananasplash watched as the warrior uttered some words before telling her to get out of there, and she blinked- get out? They- they where free? She crept out from the cage quietly and towards the opening of the door before peaking out- spotting Quillstrike, Howlpaw and Twitchbolt also get out. Skyclan had come! They had come for them! The yellow warrior couldn't be more happy to see familiar faces and she gestured for her brother to follow suit. Taking off towards the window with her tail streaming out behind her.

❪ TAGS ❫ — Slate had given up hope the moment he had been trapped within the twoleg device. While other cats—either naive or blindly optimistic (or both)—held onto the idea of escaping the shelter, Slate knew that it was not so simple to do so. Of all of his time roaming the streets, he had never heard of a cat breaking free from this dreadful place. They either got adopted by twolegs and never saw the light of day again or rotted away behind bars for the rest of their lives.

He had lost track of time as he lay curled up day after day, forcing himself to eat the bone-dry kibble and disgusting slop that the twolegs offered him. Some of it tasted tolerable, but he missed the juicy taste of a mouse or a bird.

"The forest cats are here...!" A hushed voice hisses to the general vicinity. They don't speak up again, presumably quieted down, but Slate doesn't believe their words for a second. "No, they're not." Slate grumbles, akin to a moody beast roused from his slumber. He figures that this young one is simply seeing shadows, things that aren't really there. Sure the SkyClanners had managed to find the shelter and attempt to infiltrate, but that attempt had obviously failed. Why would Blazestar risk sending more cats when Grizzlyridge had been captured? The tom was long gone now, probably never to be seen again.

The Maine Coon lifts his head, groggy, and grunts out, "A cat was taken last time; y'really think that they actually—"

The door of his cage props open. Slate spun around, amber eyes widened and fixed onto Momowhisker. That daylight warrior... That house pet! He had actually managed to break in and wriggle the opening free?

A flood of emotions washes over Slate — surprise that the SkyClanners were actually here, in utter disbelief that a lazy house cat was his savior, and freedom! The burly warrior can't quite find the words at the moment; he's too proud to admit that he was wrong about Momowhisker and the other cats like him, too embarrassed to utter his thanks. He doubts that this one moment will completely change his mind about daylight warriors, but he can't deny that their plan was working. Cats were bolting out of their cages left and right all around him.

His breathing quickens, realizing that he now had a chance to flee this hellhole. With one last glance to Momowhisker, his jaws parted as adrenaline pumped through his veins, he activated his rusty muscles and sprung out of his enclosure. The large warrior slinks close to the ground, looking all around him for any signs of twolegs before swiftly making his way toward the exit. I'm coming home, Clover!

The golden-furred child awakens to yet another commotion. He should be used to this, these days, shouldn't he, with how often it seems to happen? With the sound of cages creeking open, he expects it to be the twoleg again - expects he'll have to prepare his song, his demand of Out! However, when aquamarine eyes open to peer out of his prison, its not twolegs he sees, rather other cats!

The child goes wide-eyed, their muzzle pressing against the bars as they try to watch what's happening. They're opening the prisons, freeing cats - freeing... freeing the new ones, the ones that bow down to SkyClan. SkyClan... SkyClan..! These must be more of them! They really came to save their captured colony members, after all!

But would that mean... Would that mean he has to watch these cats go free, while he stays here? Oh, Snapple hopes not! Snapple hopes his time for freedom has arrived too! White paws start to swipe at metal bars, hoping to get at least one of the saviors' attention.

"H-Hey!" he squeaks out, "Wh-What about me? Please don't leave me here..!" He's been here long enough, Snapple can only hope that it's time for him to go home, too.

Clamour rose yet again, and the knee-jerk reaction for Twitchbolt was an overwhelming deluge of dread. His eyes stunned themselves wide, peering out of the gamp of the cages and watching as slices of night sky slunk in, heading to cage-doors. Any noise he might have made died in his throat the moment he recognised a tortoiseshell pelt with lantern eyes, glinting- he'd almost forgotten that face. Tallulahwing.

Still, still, still he didn't say anything. Didn't dare, in case- in case some lucidity would shatter the dream he was having and bring him back into the reality of cage-rot and loneliness. But- and how she did it, Twitchbolt could not have explained with a fox's jaws around his neck- she freed him. The door swung open, shrill- and a trembling smile dared to twist his maw, just for a moment. Until the memory that is mentor would not be leaving with him struck, and the realisation that he was out, but someone wasn't-

We'll get your boyfriend out too, no doubt about it. The- the phrasing petrified him once again- and though he shuffled from the crate, there was a frantic hesitation about his dithering frame. "My-" Looked back, forth. "He's not- I'm-"

She scampered past him, cloaked still in the low light. The cage next to his... a quiet whisper left him, then. An affirmation. "I'm not leaving without him," he said, keeping his wavering voice low. He could not bear to leave him, not after Daisyflight had already been torn away. The rest of them- Bananasplash, Slate, Howlpaw, Ashenclaw- countless others, they were free too, and he could not follow them, not until...

As soon as he saw Quillstrike's patchwork pelt leap out of his moon-long prison, the moment he saw that the chimera was free, Twitchbolt would take into a sprint as fast as the lightning he had been named for. Out.

So Bite Your Tongue and Watch Your Back

Angelina had been asleep when the quieted commotion caused her to stir slightly. However, it was the sound of a cage door opening that had her snapping awake. Looking out of the bars of her own cage, her eyes widened seeing so many cats, that were helping the "Skyclanners" escape. Was this their supposed Skyclan? Was one of these cats the constantly mentioned Blazestar? Around her she heard the whispers of fellow shelter cats, some new and some old quietly calling for freedom. Bitterness, envy and grief twisted in her chest. It wasn't impossible so why wasn't he here? It must of meant he had to have passed, hadn't it? Closing her eyes to inhale silently, she sat up and joined the whispered requests for freedom. She couldn't sit another day in this cage. "Hey, let us out too."

I've been trying not to
The soft sounds of rattling cages and frantic calls awaken the patchy kitten. Blue green eyes open slowly as light floods his senses, a yawn pulling from his dark maw. Across the room he witnessed a cat fleeing their cage with the help of another and his head jerks as yet another leaps for freedom. Rising from his purple blanket he presses his forehead against the bars. A single ebony paw slips through the gaps, tiny claws peeking through as he desperately tries to wave one of the older cats down. "H-hey amigo! Don't forget about me!" Las Plagas chimes in, his plead the same as the others. While the cuddles and treats from the white coats were nice he longed for a life beyond silver barring. He wanted out and he wished for freedom.
Go off the deep end

NO LONGER FATIMA, GODDESS, LIGHT

The she-cat had almost resigned herself to being trapped here, her release dependant on the whims of those two-legged freaks who treated themselves like Gods. A miserable existence to be sure, but what other choice did she have? No matter how much she'd clawed, bit, threw her weight against it, the metal web didn't budge. She'd taken to sulking in the shadows, mulling over her own thoughts, just taking the passing minutes as they came. She wondered what would become of her now.

Voices. The tortie's ears perked at the sound of excited whispers, followed by the squeaks of cage door hinges and fleeing pawsteps. Intrigued, she rushed to see what the commotion was about. Pale green eyes widened as she took in the scene in front of her. Unfamiliar cats were spread amongst the metal dens, opening the latches and releasing the captives. They definitely weren't from this desolate place. No, these cats reeked of fresh air and the forest. Their focus seemed to be on cats who Hawk only recognised from their voices. They'd chattered about the infamous Skyclan, of clanmates missed and loved ones lost to this twoleg-infested hellhole. As she watched the saved cats' eyes light up with familiarity, she figured this must be them. The prickly feline had to give them credit. There wasn't enough prey in the world to get her to come in here if she didn't have to, and they came of their own volition. To save people, at the risk of themselves. Were they brave or just stupid? She'd decide later.

Apparently she wasn't the only one who noticed they'd focused on their clanmates first. Other, more unfamiliar voices had started up, begging for their own salvation. A decision needed to be made. What would being saved mean for her? She didn't have anywhere to go. She couldn't go back to them, those that'd let her rot here. Skyclan had come for their own simply because they cared, not to rack up favours. She'd scarce admit it, but the bonds she'd seen forged between these clan cats had filled her with childlike wonder - it was something new, and something good. The fur on her neck had started to raise, and you know what? Most of all, she'd be damned if she was discarded again, especially by clan cats. So, she joined her voice with the others, harsh and combative.

"Hey," she hissed. "There are other cats here too, yknow. Don't you dare leave us behind!"

HE SAID, WELL MY NAME'S JOHNNY, AND IT MIGHT BE A SIN
BUT I'LL TAKE YOUR BET, AND YOU'RE GONNA REGRET, CUZ IM THE BEST THERE'S EVER BEEN

He watched as Wyrm opened the last cage, flinching softly at the sound the cage emitted, but smiling softly when he watched Banana and Clouberry hop out a moment later. If he was keeping track correctly, that was all of their warriors -sans Daisyflight and... "Has anyone seen Grizzlyridge or Sheepcurl?" he called softly toward the retreating warriors, amber eyes frantically searching the line of cages once, twice, three times but finding neither.

His jaw clenched in frustration, but he knew he had a call to make.

"Open the doors for the rest of them- any cat that wants out, that is." he called softly to his fellow Daylight warriors, pausing to call after Quillstrike before he reached the window. "@QUILLSTRIKE, wait! Take one of these kits with you!" ordered the chimera as he reared up to mess with the latch to their cage.

Maybe it was his haste to catch the rushing tom or maybe his luck had just finally wore out, but this time when the door clicked open it swung open a bit faster than the others had, knocking into the surface behind it with a sound that had Johnny cringing as his eyes flashed toward Pigeonsong momentarily.

He would warn them.

"Alright, out ya come, wee ones. We'll make sure you get out of this place, just make sure you stay really quiet, okay?" he instructed gently, a warm smile on his muzzle as he gestured to Quill, who'd made his way over. "This is Quillstrike. He's gonna carry one of you out. The other will be right behind with the next grown up, okay?"

OOC; he rolled a 3- cage door opens, but it makes a noise @Artorias Abysswalker & @DOOMGUY

"Doom... there are cats here." Noisy ones, too. All the dens they are in are making loud, loud noises. The speckled white kit sits up and blinks gummy eyes into the dimly lit room, seeing free-moving silhouettes going from cat to cat. He wrestles himself out from under the blanket, shoving his brother aside with a, "Move!" He rubs at his eyes, moving the muck around instead of clearing it. "Take us! Take us!" His demand is sharp, to whoever it is that is opening the cages. He wants out! He wants to find their mother. That's what he wants.

DARK BLUE, DARK BLUE, HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ALONE IN A CROWDED ROOM?

They were here.

Quill didn't know what he was feeling in that moment as he watched the silent figures of his clanmates slip through the shadows of the room, pausing at different cages and opening them. The daylight warriors, he realized, and the closer they drew to his cage the more he was able to identify anticipation within the swirl of feelings in his gut.

He wanted out of this fucking hellhole.

He repressed the urge to demand his freedom, curbed his impatience and held together the fraying edges of his self-control. He wouldn't draw attention, wouldn't put the patrol in jeoperdy by acting like some desperate kit when he was meant to be a warrior.

He was glad when Tallulahwing stopped at Twitches cages first, not just because Quill would have snapped at her to let him out first anyways, but because he was fairly certain that a good chunk of the unease and urgency he felt curling in his stomach would go away once his friend was free and safe. After a moment the door to Twitchbolts cage opened, but they seemed to hesitate in hopping out.

"We'll get your boyfriend out too, no doubt about it."

There was a moment where Quill was just as surprised and confused as his companion- albeit, a lot less panicked. If anything, there mayb have been a look of amusement behind the lift of his brow as he watched Twitchbolt short circut. In any other setting it might have been fun to watch, and he made a mental note of it before forcing his expression back into something sterner. There was no time for it now- no time for Twitch to hesitate, no time for Quill to be caught up in his own head.

"Twitch, just go!" he barked through the bars of the cage, only to be ignored, watching as Banana and Cloudberry went racing by toward the window behind them.

"I'm not leaving without him."

He should have felt a lot of things in that moment, things like frustration or urgnency, but all he felt was bone-deep fondness. How could he feel anything but? That was Twitch, after all- always brave when it counted, so fucking loyal. Had he honestly expected anything less of them? No, not when Quill would have said the exact same thing had their positions been reversed.

The moment Quills door was open Twitch was running, and he didn't blame him. The chimera was a heartbeat away from follow when a voice stopped him though. Johnny. His lip curled in frustration, glancing over his shoulder to watch Twitch get farther away from him, but a glance back toward the two kits eventually brought him stalking over.

He didn't hesitate, reaching up to pluck one of the kits at random and holding them securely by the scruff before he turned and made his way down the aidle, toward the window.

And spotted Thistleback.

He stopped in his tracks as another box of emotions thrown into the chaos of what he was already dealing with, but these ones he could identify even if he was reluctant to name them; relief, admiration, the feeling of 'i knew you'd come'. It was just a momentary stutter to his steps that he was quick to correct, and he let his fur spike up along his neck as he quickly strode forward and lept up onto the ledge beside his own mentor.

"Took you long enough." he growled around the scruff in his mouth, genuine anger in the words as fire and ocean locked with metal. It'd been over a fucking month, and that entire time he'd been locked alone in a cage, waiting.

But he'd known they'd come.

The anger seemed to sizzle out quickly, and after a moment he stepped forward to bump his forhead against the older toms shoulder, careful not to knock the kit against them before stepping away. He couldn't stand there and block the window, and Thistle still had a job to do.

So he scrambled out of the window with the kit in his jaws, bolting after Twitch.

OOC- Quill has Artorias!!!

Tallulahwing takes a moment to relish the looks on both Twitchbolt and Quillstrike's faces, but it's quickly replaced by another urgent creasing of the brow. Wyrm's cage makes an even harsher sound than her own had, and she realizes, as Johnny tells them SkyClan cats were mostly freed, that they'd have to work fast if they wanted to help these rogues and kittypets, too.

She locks eyes with another tortoiseshell, young, by the looks of it. She hisses, "Hey! There are other cats here too, yknow. Don't you dare leave us behind!"

Tallulahwing snorts goodnaturedly. "Wouldn't dream of it, Missy," she says, working quickly on the latch. It makes another piercing sound -- less intense than Wyrm's, but similar to the last one she'd opened -- and once the girl is free, Tallulahwing will order her, "Go, NOW!" She realizes these cats won't have any idea about the escape route. "Follow until you find a cream-colored cat standing sentry! You'll jump up the broken window by a black and white tom! Then a she-cat at the bottom will show you where to hide!"

Toffee Mocha watches in awe at the sudden influx of cats barge into the shelter, rescuing their fellows. he had a feeling they would come, and he's happy his hunch was right. For once, he decides to be smart and keep his trap shut, since alerting the workfolk would be a death sentence for all of them, surely. He wonders if they'll actually take the chance to rescue everyone else trapped in here, especially after all of the commotion some of them have already caused.

He lets out an exasperated sigh at the younger cats who continue to blabber, but slowly pushes his way to the front of his cage, brown eyes flaring with determination. He's ready to be free from his cage, and help out however he can. He just hope it shows in his face, refusing to speak a word and make their hard work go to waste.

WENT FACE TO FACE WITH ALL OUR FEARS
LEARNED OUR LESSONS THROUGH THE TEARS

Unexpectedly, the shelter had come alive under the cover of darkness. It caught Soma off guard, green eyes snapping open in confusion at the sound of a loud noise coming from one of the cages, like metal squeaking. It took him a moment to realize what was going on since he was still hazy with sleep, but the realization set in quick enough; the cage doors were being opened.

"Junco, wake up!" he whispered harshly, quickly leeping to his paws to give his sibling a nudge that would jostle them awake. He didn't expect much enthusiasm from them, but at the end of the day Soma knew this was the right move for them both. It was getting to a point where they'd be old news, passed over for kittens who were younger and cuter.

Eventually, they wouldn't make it out of this place.

"Hey! Over here- don't forget about us!" he called with an eager lash of his tail as he made his way to peer out of the bars of his cage.

All around there were cats working to free the felines locked away behind bars, and he was determined to make sure that he and Junco were among those who made it out. The shelter had suited their purposes for the last several months, but Soma knew it wasn't a long term plan. He couldn't take care of Junco if he wasn't with Junco, and eventually they'd would be separated. At least out there the green-eyed youth would have some control over what happened, even if he knew their life was about to get a lot more difficult in the process.

@Junco is caged with them!

SkyClan is here. The whispers filter through the shelter like a breeze, whipping the cats who call it home into a frantic frenzy of hisses and pleas for freedom. Ivy slinks to the front of her cage, squinting out at their rescue party with unseeing green eyes - and, when she's pretty sure that one of them arrives to set her free, the senior cat reaches out a small black paw to rest it on that of her saviour and shakes her head.

"You make sure every other cat who wants to get out before me does, y'hear? Now git." She jerks her head, sending them on to help the others. She doesn't know how many of the Clan cats have come to save them, but she knows that they have a much longer life ahead than she. And with the rattling that one of their clumsy helpers has caused in the meantime, earning small hisses of warning and annoyance, she won't be surprised if their twoleg caretaker comes back in at some point.

Pigeonsong waits attentively beside the door, his ears perked for even the smallest suggestion that any twolegs had noticed what was going on. It's silent beside the steady pounding of his heart in his ears. The sensation almost makes him feel sick. There were so many cats relying on them to make sure this mission went smoothly, including himself.
Inwardly he knew that if they got caught, he would be the first one, being so close to the door.

All's quiet aside from the hushed whispers he can hear from the others. Among them few voices he recognizes. What he does notice is that he hasn't heard Bananasplash or her littermate his stomach drops at the thought that he might never see her again.

Steeling himself, he puts his focus back on the door. They were relying on him to be the first line of defense and he wasn't going to let them down, they couldn't fail because of him!

(apologies for weird formatting. Typing on a bluetooth keyboard is awkward.)

⭒✧ Chaos rattled down the rows minute by minute. Chalk was pressed against the lattice-metal, his pale fur framed oddly in geometric tufts. If the objective truth wasn't in front of him, unlatching the cages, he likely wouldn't have believed a rescue possible. These clancats were something… To say his interest was piqued was an understatement.

The front of his tongue curled against his incisors. He wanted to speak up but the risk of distracting the newcomers from their task was too great. These were their family, it seemed, and getting in the way of that sent a prickle down his back. All the talk in the last few days had suggested they had some sort of honour system though- whether that extended to outsiders he wasn't sure.

When the cries for help were met with assent from one of the clancats, Chalk's tumultuous mind settled minutely. There was a chance. Verdigris eyes hesitating on the dark shadow of Ivy as she spoke, the tom lodged a comment to a passing pinecat. "If you're able- please. I'll keep an eye on any that are slow to get out."

It hadn't quite been the rescue scene Cheddar imagined. Though the round spotted tabby was confident her owner would be on the other side of those doors any day and swoop her away back to their flat, she would be just as satisfied with whatever chaos this was as well. Truthfully, Cheddar was a little confused overall what was going on. These were the SkyClan fellows some of the others spoke of?

As cages were opened one by one Cheddar felt their heart rise in their chest. They wanted to get out- they knew where the flat was. They could get there all on their own and beat their owner to finding them!

"Waiteth, cometh receiveth me too! I wanteth to holp, prithee." Their voice tried to raise to be made clear over the commotion of all the others shouting for escape, hoping to be heard.

The commotion this time is quieter, almost subdued: chaos that doesn't want to be noticed. It wakes Bunny up anyway. Like any good cat, he has a special sense for shenanigans, and this could be nothing else.

Whispers running through the room and the sounds of cages being opened actually leave him speechless. He gapes as the forest cats — cats he assumed to be tall-tales until very recently — scuttle around, prying doors open to allow those trapped inside to escape. Even an optimist such as him never expected them to actually come to save their comrades, let alone the rest of them. And they're good at it, too, clearly used to moving discreetly: a few doors clang open or screech as the latch fights against this interference, sure, but they're making quick work of it. It's… honestly impressive, and he watches them with wide eyes.

Bunny eagerly presses against the bars of his cage. He doesn't mind the shelter, with its free food and warmth, but he's never one to turn down an easy way out when it's offered to him. His whiskers twitch when he hears Ivy turn one of the rescue cats from her lock.

"Don't say that, Ivy, come on," he cajoles anxiously. Grouchy as she is, he likes the older she-cat and doesn't want her trapped in here any longer than necessary.

To the nearest clan cat, he'd add, "Hey, hi! Can you get me out as well? No pressure, I'll be waiting for this one anyway," he jerks his head towards the wall separating him from Ivy's cage. "But I'd appreciate it anyway, for sure. Maybe I can help?"

OOC- Rolled a 6, gets to open 2 cages! freeing @angelina to take doomguy and freeing @SNAPPLE

He moved to release a shecat next, one he didn't know but whom he hoped he could recruit anyways. "Can you carry this kit out with you? His cagemate is out there already, with big chimera tabby. he said as paws worked to free her, smoothly disengaging the lock and letting her free.

There ere so many cats all around him, crying out and calling for help, hushed voices pleading for a chance at freedom. For only the briefest, fleeting moment he felt the overwhelming pressure of it all. Had it just been his own life at risk sneaking into some twoleg building it would be different, but this? So many lives were on the line.

Moving to the nearest cage where a child was calling out and pawing at their cage, he offered them a reassuring smile as he padded over to mess with their lock. "Don't worry kiddo, I'll get you out. But you've got to keep your voice down, okay? We don't want those twolegs coming in here, do we?" he reminded them, a few moments later the door swinging open quietly to free them. "Go straight down here, to the window. There's a cat there that will help you out."

One by one, SkyClanners were released and soon enough, the other shelter cats were slowly earning their freedom too. It was no small relief to the blue lynx point, he was no hero, but he could not stand by to see so many cats younger than him waste way in boxes no bigger than a foxlength. He moved on as Slate darted away, words of affirmation filling each and every thought as he convinced himself to continue. The consequences of hasty paws were ringing out in the air, no one SkyClanner wanted to get caught and Momo was confident that it was making them reckless. He was no better. Large eyes locked onto a small creature caught in one of the cages and found his heart pang once more. Don't leave me here. Momowhisker inhaled deeply to steel himself from the flood of emotion that threatened to envelop his face. He offered a smile to @pocket and mewed, "No worries little fella. Follow the others when you're free, alright?"

A blue paw moved to fidget with the latch of Pocket's cage, his paw slipping once or twice as he felt himself working against the persistent passage of time. His whole body jolted as the latch was finally lifted, then a heavy realisation sank in when it didn't move as easily as Slate's cage had done. He gave the cage a tug with his teeth, his eyes narrowed in concentration when the door did not budge. Just as he was prepared to release his grip, a loud rusty shriek filled his ears. Momo lurched back from the enclosure, cringing as the door clanged against another door. Fur bristled and claws searching for grip on the smooth floor, he quickly gestured with his head towards the window, finding his gritted teeth would aid him little in conversation. It had not been pretty, but at least the kitten was free.
