Violetkit, like her sister, doesn't much care for listening to clan meetings. It was mostly the same boring stuff, politics and ceremonies and other grown-up stuff that she doesn't understand fully. But today is different; the excitement in the air is palpable, a buzz in her ears. Today, they're going to become apprentices.
Violetkit trails after her mother and littermates, curling her tail delicately around her paws as she sits. The meeting starts out with the new daylight warriors that Blazestar had brought back with him earning their names; Tallulahwing and Steveheart. Violetkit thinks they're stupid names, just like the rest of the daylight warriors' names. What even is a Steve?
But her mother taught her manners, unlike Dawnglare's parents, so she fakes a smile.
Next up, her name is called. Violetkit follows Figkit, Greenkit, and Snowkit to the front. She's first, she realizes with a slow blink, as Blazestar strips her of the kit title and bestows upon her her new name; Violetpaw. And her mentor...
Is Steveheart. The guy with the stupid name. Great.
He'd better not be as stupid as his name is.
Violetpaw doesn't move, waiting for her mentor to approach her; it's not like she could find him in this crowd. And he does. An ear twitches in his direction as heavy pawsteps plop towards her, and her new mentor speaks up. She inclines her head towards his voice. He smiles down at her, but she doesn't return the favor. She isn't even aware that he's smiled at her. "Cool," she says with a shrug. She doesn't offer much more.
