BABBLEKIT

You're totally not faster than me!

Soft little pants are heard as a tiny body races across the camp. Her small white paws quickly fumbling but those bright amber eyes set in determination, filled with an act that she deems courageous and true. When she has been playing near the wall of the camp she saw something there, small but bright white in color. A small bit of meager snow that had not yet melted from the warming weather. Hidden in shadow and kept from the rays of the sun. Her mission that she is taking so serious right now is obvious to her. Within her jaws is a leaf, and when she gets back to the small tiny pile of white she lays down her leaf and begins to scoop up the small snow. Making sure to get all that she can. "I promise you won't melt! I'll take you in the nursery and keep you till it gets cold again and then you can go back outside!" Yes, she can save the snow and then it can be reunited later on with the rest of the snow. Gripping the bundle of small snow then she starts to make her way back to the nursery, trying her hardest to not fumble her small bundle.

But with slightly clumsy paws she doesn't pay attention to where she places them. Her paws grapple with the ground as she stumbles, chin hitting the ground and snow flinging outward. "No! Ah!" Looking up from where she is sprawled on the ground her leaf bundle lays empty and snow now melted against a clanmates body now has them partially soaked. She quickly gets to her paws, eyes brimming with tears but she is quick to apologize. "I'm so sorry! I didn't see you! No! It's all gone, the snow's gone! She's failed her first and only mission. Ears hang back and she shuffles her paws. "....sorry...."

anyone can be the clanmate splashed with a little bit of snow, hehe.

Doekit was struck by Babblekit's urgency and slowly crept over to where the other kitten was gathering the snow on the leaf, crouched down with wonder dancing in her eyes. She had a quiet ponder to herself, thinking about what might have made the last remnants of winter so special that her den-mate wanted to save it in the nursery. "That might be a little cold," she thought to herself, worried that the tiny chunk of snow might multiply somehow and create a flurry of fresh snowdrops. She didn't actually think this could happen, but you never know.

Perhaps she had been too quiet—too still, as Babblekit's rushed paws made for messy work. Suddenly, an icy splatter came in contact with her pelt, melting almost immediately on contact and turning her brown fur into an even darker shade. Eyes grew wide and she leaped into the sky, probably a good dozen of foxtails by way it felt (she didn't think she'd ever jumped so high before), "Brrr!"

She shivered as she landed, feeling frantic from the shock of the cold. As it faded though, she took in Babblekit's remorse and blinked rapidly at the tears in the other kit's eyes. Her heart shattered as she took in her expression and she moved to press close against her pelt, forgetting that it was wet with the now-melted snow. "It's okay," she said, trying to cheer her up. She gulped. This must have been really important to her.

"Maybe. . . Maybe there's more snow somewhere in the territory! Maybe we can ask a grown up to take us out to find some!" That seemed unlikely, but it never hurt to ask, and Babblekit seemed so sullen by the turn of events that they had to do something!

Sedgepounce, for one, is glad the snow is gone. Leafbare is the worst season of them all. Bleak, cold, hungry, tired. The snow is pretty, sometimes, but it's also freezing...The torn-up pawpads he'd gotten searching for Bunnyglow in that blizzard certainly ruined the vibe this last season. Newleaf is much better all around.

Babblekit's distress only catches his ear because he's padding by when she dunks snow all over Doekit. Where'd she even find that..? "Hm?" He wanders closer, glancing skeptically between Babblekit's teary eyes and Doekit's spiky, splashed fur. At least it's warm outside today. "C'mon, Babblekit. It's just snow..."

He doesn't understand kittens. They obsess over the weirdest things. Sedgepounce doesn't really want to squash their dreams of going out into the meadow for more snow though (at least Doekit has the sense to ask a warrior), so he settles down for the moment, tail looping around his paws. "It'll snow again in a couple seasons, you know? It's not...gone forever," Sedgepounce meows sympathetically. Not that he'd really be bummed if it were.

SEDGEPOUNCE is the current DEPUTY OF WINDCLAN. he's a long-legged tomcat with dark taupe fur and high white. much more of a pacifist compared to scorchstar, he tends to come across as a bit of a pushover—however, he's inwardly quite savvy with clan politics, and tends to judge others harshly based on past actions.

Why anyone would want to salvage the snow confused Brackenscar. She's happy to see that it's finally dying off in favour of the newleaf blooms. Even if all this shedding is annoying, she appreciates the future that's ahead. A very snowless future she hopes, they're pretty confident they'd scream if the weather decided to change its mind out of nowhere. Though, as she watched Babblekit scoop and cradle the melting ice like it's a newborn there's a fleeting thought that maybe she misjudged things.

They would never admit it out loud but her heart pangs in sympathy for the older kit as she loses something that she was so excited to have. Even if they were for one happy to see the last dreadful reminder of leafbare to leave. Doekit's suggestion is kind, a ghost of a smile finds Brackenscar at the scene. They trail not far behind Sedgepounce, tilting their head at the confusing scene in front of them. "The snow is water now, so really it's still here" it's just... in Doekit's pelt rather than on Babblekit's paws. The deputy is right, this is just snow after all but they figured that she doesn't need to hear an echo of a similar statement.

"You need to be an apprentice to lead camp with a mentor" her meow is dry as she glances at Doekit. Then bobs her head apologetically, stars when did she become such a buzz-kill? It almost gagged her to reinforce the rules of all things but this was always important to them. "I guess you could always go ask Scorchstar really nicely" they know that wouldn't change, it was the rules for a reason. It's weird to think that during Sootstar's reign they would already be apprentices by now. While they know Scorchstar wouldn't budge they think it would be a little funny to see a parade of kittens trying to beg the blunt leader to be allowed out in the moors to look for snow of all things.

VIXENKIT
she / her | kitten

She doesn't mean to, but when Babblekit stumbles and sends snow cascading over Doekit, Vixenkit barks out a laugh that sounds akin to what she was named after, tail lashing behind her as her laugh trails off to mini giggles, trotting over. "Dude, that was sick!" she cheers. "You got a little bit of airtime, Babblekit! Why are you so sad?" airtime was something to celebrate, not mourn! And Doekit doesn't seem to be too upset, anyways, hopping straight in to the air and getting even more airtime than Babblekit does. This causes Vixenkit to cheer. "Go, Doekit!" but the kitten moves to comfort Babblekit.

Softies...! Sedgepounce was right, it was just snow.

"My mom said theres no more snow. It melted. All gone." Vixenkit states this like a very well-known fact, nose wrinkling as Doekit suggests to look for more. "But thats okay. We can play with mud. I wanna make a mud tower! You guys should help." Brackenscar says to ask Scorchstar, but thats boring, and Sunshade said not to bother their leader too much. Shes busy doing... important leader things... Yeah... So she offers an alternative, and then squints up at the sky. "Maybe if we build high enough you can ask Starclan to make it snow again." now that sounds like a foolproof plan, eh? Surely nothing could go wrong and surely thats how it worked.
