It had been a while since Seal had felt grass on his paw pads – though, last time he had remembered it being less... frosty. His twoleg – as Florabreeze had called his owner (which was odd, since wasn't she a housecat too?) – had kept him inside during the worst of the wint- leaf-bare (damn, was it going to take a long time to get used to all of this lingo). He couldn't say he blamed her; he and Toast hadn't exactly been the healthy cats they are now until just recently. But oh, how he longed to run into the snow, to feel the cold nipping at his skin! Freedom would come, soon.

The seal-like feline had just about talked his adopted sibling's ear off about SkyClan the entire time he had been cooped up in the house, eventually leading them to finally agree to coming with him and at least giving it a shot. Florabreeze said that you had to be willing to defend the clan, even with your life... but he wasn't a real member of the clan, right? What would stop them from just leaving, and facing little or no consequences? But Seal felt a connection deep down already to this interesting bunch, and wanted Toast to feel that same warmth that he felt when he had first stepped foot into that camp.

Waking up his sibling bright and early, he had woken Toast up with a bedside meal, insisting that it was necessary for the walk over. As he expected though, the mink had not objected to such an inquiry and they both ate their meals with quiet small talk. After the sun had finished rising, they began on the trek to the border with Seal bouncing by his brother's side, a playful gleam in his eyes. "Aw Toast, you're gonna love it there, really! I know it kinda sounds like 'm trying to convince you, but I swear I'm not! It's really totally awesome!" The chimera blabbered about, head bobbing side to side. He tended to overexplain things without really thinking about it – it was easier to make people understand even if it became annoying.

They arrived at the border, and Seal faced Toast with a rare serious expression. "Okay, Toast. This is the SkyClan border – you CANNOT! Cross under any circumstances unless a lead warrior –" he said the title in a mock haughty voice – "brings you to camp. You got it?" Even if Toast had questions, he persisted on, looking up at them with joy dancing around in sparkling eyes. "Okay. Now, uh... just call out into the nothing, and then we wait! They show up. Eventually," he mumbled with a groan, flashing back to when he had waited eons just for someone to even show up (it had been five minutes). Hopefully they would be much more on top of it this time.

// OMG SORRY FOR THE LATE RESPONSE I FELL DOWN THE WELL AGAIN

Being woken up early, Toast was a bit sleepy on the walk over. He'd gotten used to sleeping throughout most of the day, since he hadn't left the house in the past few weeks. Every so often, Toast would shake off his paw pads, trying to warm them up. Even with the worst of winter over, Toast couldn't stand the cold. He'd grown far too comfortable in his owner's home, kept warm and well-fed and well-loved. Why would he want to leave such a comfortable life? He had one reason; a round, seal-patterened, loud sibling. Seal was happy in Skyclan, that much he knew. Even before Seal had joined Skyclan, Toast had his reservations about the territory. He had heard whispers from other kittypets and strays alike, about wild cats in the forests; tall tales of warriors and battles. His mother had told him similar stories. And now, his adopted brother would do the same.

So, there he was, joining Seal on a walk to Skyclan's border. He knew Seal would want to go back as soon as he could, and he was determined to join him. Somebody had to keep an eye on him, after all. He didn't say much on the walk over, just nodded his head every so often. Seal loved to talk as much as Toast liked to listen. Eventually, the pair had made it to the 'border,' whatever that was. Toast sat down, fluffing up his fur to try and stay warm. He winced a little at Seal's explanation after realizing he had to do the talking.

"Wait, I have to do it? Why can't you?" he sighed, "You already know these guys!" He hesitated, but for once, it was his job to speak up instead of Seal. He didn't want to let him down, anyway. "Um, yeah, hello? Skyclan? I'm with er... Seal..." he glanced at his sibling "You still go by Seal here, right?" he whispered, to Seal, before raising his voice again, "I want to join you guys, If you'll have me..." After that, he went silent, eyes trained down at his paws. Now, all they could do was wait.

Figfeather appears generally, unamused by the return of Seal and the friend he brought along… Toast. Figfeather had thought with as quickly as Seal stopped showing up after joining he had given up on his training.

She almost entirely ignores the brown cat's ask to join. She fixes Seal with a hard stare instead, "Why are you back?" She growls, challengingly. "You were hardly here for a quarter moon before your pelt stopped showing up to camp." It didn't look very good for the young cat. Daylight apprentice or not, by agreeing to join SkyClan he was excepted to be loyal and show up just as much as any other cat.

Finally, she shares her stern gaze with Toast. "This isn't a game. I won't entertain your friend if we can't even count on you to show up." Unfortunately, Toast's association with Seal earns them an equal amount of doubt. How could Figfeather trust the cat Seal had recruited if he himself has proven to be a rare sighting? They'd do nothing but waste SkyClan's time and resources if they weren't serious about this. Of course, she doesn't expect they understand that, they're young and aren't clanborn.

She sighs. She'll at least hear Toast's argument for themself before deciding if she tells them to scram or not. "Why is it you want to join SkyClan?" To be one of them, to belong to a group of cats, to fight and defend them? Or to mess around and play with Seal?

(Sorry she is being a butt </3 she'll take some convincing to take Toast to camp but unless something crazy happens you shouldn't have to worry about them being turned away :).)

Figfeather is a bright yellow she-cat with golden tabby markings that swirl across her body. She has big, amber-orange eyes and angular ears. Prominent jowls dangle from her cheeks, rounding out the shape of her face. Her right hind leg is twisted, wrapped in a large, discolored, bumpy scar.

Seal bumped into his brother with a playful purr, eyes gleaming with mischief as the other complained about having to speak up despite him already knowing the place. The boy felt that it was important for Toast to be able to talk to these guys, to make a good first impression like he did with Florabreeze! Oh, they were going to love them, he just knew it! Sticking his tongue out joyfully, he smiled – all teeth – at his adopted sibling. "So? 'M not the one joinin'!" He giggled, bouncing around to the chocolate chimera's side as Toast gave him one last look before yelling out into the trees of tall pine.

Tapping his paws, the growing familiar scent of the SkyClan camp grew stronger as the wind blew it by his nose, his bored expression replaced now with that of elation. "Ooh, ooh! They're coming!" Standing up (he had sat down a few seconds after Toast had called out with an exasperated sigh), he watched Figfeather immerge from the brush of the forest with a puffed out chest. Surely this would be easy, just an "Okay, but you gotta give your life to the clan and then we'll take you to Orangestar!" statement or yada yada.

He opened his maw and began with a "Hi, Figfeather- !" Only to be cut off by the sharp growl and harsh question of 'why had he returned'... h-hadn't every cat that lives with their owner stayed in during the worst of the storm? Their owner had taken the time off to be with them and had refused to let him outside after a few days in camp, realizing he was coming back home with the shivers and a runny nose. Now, she was back at the treat making home and they had all the time to return. Plus, he didn't have a cold anymore!

Blinking his bi-colored eyes with worry, the pit of his stomach sank as his heart fluttered around in his chest from the nerves. Flashing an apologetic look to Toast that read "I didn't expect this!", he rubbed his paws into the snow. "I- I - um, we, I – I got sick f- from comin' out here wh- when the snow was so bad, 'n' my own- t- ta- twoleg wouldn't, um, let me out of our ho- home since she was there for a while... 'n' she just left 'n' we can come back now..." He stuttered and mumbled an explanation, his voice but a whisper as he uttered an "I'm sorry," to the lead warrior. Oh, this wasn't going so good...

Then she looked at Toast, and barked out an accusation that he was taking this all as just a game. Her words only continued to ignite the flame that was starting in his belly as he abandoned all anxiousness, the way his body screamed at him to just yell at Toast to tuck tail and run, never to come back. But no, he wanted to be here. He wanted to be a real SkyClanner, and the seal-like boy wasn't going to let Figfeather speak for him.

Furrowing his brows, Seal bit back with a soft tone of his own, nose crinkled in distain. "Hey, I'm not taking this as a game! I haven't even started to become a.. 'paw, or an app-ren-tice like you guys call it 'nyways! I got sick, 'n' my owner kept me home. You could've just asked where I had been nicely first instead of still goin' before I could explain myself!" He finished out of breath and gasped, covering his paws with his mouth and now letting his posture turn into that of sulking. "... 'M sorry... I got upset... I jus' don't want you to think I'm not taking this seriously when all I really wanna do is help SkyClan... I really want to be here, and I want my brother here, too." The chimera's voice was firm, and he looked at Toast as she asked her last question. Hopefully he hadn't ruined their chances by blowing up. Or a potential friendship with Figfeather – though, honestly, he wasn't so sure if he wanted that right now, anyway.

Sleep lingers persistently in Doeblaze's eye as she trails along the Twolegplace border, though the chill wind whisking around her ears is a fast way to wake up. Pine mingles with smog in her nose as the breeze whisks Twolegplace's scent down to her—and then the weaving notes of two cats, Twolegplace residents at a sniff. Figfeather's marmalade pelt is stark against the leaf-bare landscape, flashing against the bleak snow as she surges forward to challenge the pair.

The freckled silvery cat looks familiar; the tawny one with the odd sweet smell does not. Seal, she registers, the daylight apprentice who'd bobbed eagerly around camp for all of a quarter-moon. Distrust blooms low in her eye, and Figfeather seems to be sharing the same sentiment, if her stern questioning is any indication. For once, Doeblaze is inclined to agree with the golden tabby—leaf-bare service was life or death for most of the Clan, not a halfway commitment.

To his credit, Seal produces a relatively valid excuse and an apology, although a fair bit of (undeserved) annoyance creeps in. " Calm down, " the tabby lead warrior chuffs with a puff of steam, training an appraising green eye on the pair. " If you're takin' it seriously, you can prove it by showin' up. Leaf-bare's no game. An extra pair of paws can be the difference between an empty belly or a full one for a kit. So Figfeather doesn't want y'all playin' around or not treatin' this with the due respect, yeah? "

Doeblaze glances at her councilmate. " So long as you and your brother've got honest intentions, and you try not to let this happen again… " she trails off, hoping to let the implication form itself. Her jade gaze shifts Toast's way. " Speakin' of, you can answer Figfeather's question, for a start. "
