ISSUE 1 ╱ 06.11.23 — 06.17.23
───── With WindClan having lost in skirmishes both to ShadowClan and to RiverClan, things have been tense and hectic throughout camp. Even the procession to the Gathering is met with concern from those left behind. Wolfsong's OOC promotion is in good timing, it would seem. Though he has yet to take up the mantle fully within the clan, his training with Vulturemask will certainly benefit them in this hostile environment.

ISSUE 2 ╱ 06.17.23 — 06.23.23
───── WindClan has experienced much needed quiet this week, with many warriors on the mend StarClan knows WindClan could not afford anymore hiccups. Adderpaw has returned home since leaving to the abandoned badgerset den after concerns that the tag forcibly put in his ear may draw twolegs to camp. Much of the clan is disappointed to find he's not removed the 'kittypet' accessory yet. A patrol is dealing with the potential threat of a fox while Cygnetstare and Cloudedsky dream of having a better defense against RiverClan... Wouldn't an additional tunnel be nice?

A gathering summary will be made in the next issue as the thread has not yet been finalized. Stay tuned!

ISSUE 3 ╱ 06.24.23 — 06.30.23
───── This week, WindClan welcomes four new apprentices: Juniperpaw, Littlepaw, Hollypaw, and Scorpionpaw. Coincidentally, there are also four new warriors: Morningsong, Larkfeather, Azaleafrost, and Sparkspirit. Tragedy strikes when WindClan's medicine cat, Vulturemask, meets an untimely end at the paws of Galeforce. Sunstride bears his body back to camp, devastating Sunflowerpaw, Goldenpaw, and Shadowpaw. Sootstar, angered by mounting disrespect at Gatherings, rallies warriors for battle against SkyClan. It remains to be seen whether more losses will join Vulturemask.

ISSUE 5 ╱ 07.09.23 — 07.14.23
───── Following WindClan's return from the skirmish with SkyClan, Sootstar named Wolfsong medicine cat. In other news, Sootstar loses patience and tears the reviled twoleg tag from Adderpaw's ear. She also discovers a beetle infestation within her den, and calls upon her clanmates for their assistance. Meanwhile, in the medicine den, recovering from the skirmish, Cygnetstare reveals an odd interest much to her clanmates' disgust. Robinfang has lost precious stones, while Milkpaw makes his first catch and Scorchstreak offers tunneling advice to her son.

ISSUE 6 ╱ 07.15.23 — 07.21.23
───── It is that time of the month for the Gathering, which, surprisingly, is fairly uneventful. Back at camp, Wolfsong and Sunstride learn they are to be parents, while Weaselclaw has his own...fatherly duties to attend to. But where there is life, there is also death: Heatherpaw's mother has passed away in her sleep, leaving the apprentice deeply distraught. Meanwhile, Scorchstreak and Badgermoon's see their kits apprenticed, and Snakepaw earns his warrior name: Snakehiss. With the arrival of new tunnelers-in-training, Sootstar conducts a training lesson in preparation for Cygnetstare and Cloudedsky's proposition. They aim to dig a tunnel straight to RiverClan's bridge— a lofty goal that will no doubt challenge the tunnelers.

ISSUE 7 ╱ 07.22.23 — 08.11.23
───── WindClan has been preoccupied of late with internal affairs. Cats have been frequenting the Sun-Warmed Pool and keeping themselves busy with races, story-telling, running the moors, and training sessions. Meanwhile, planning for the RiverClan tunnel is underway, with the tunnelers' work spurred on by the omen received by Wolfsong. Some awkwardness regarding a certain cat's grooming habits is swiftly forgotten in the wake of the exciting news that Wolfsong has taken an
apprentice: Sootstar's young, precocious daughter Cottonpaw, evidently chosen by the cats of StarClan themselves.

ISSUE 8 ╱ 08.12.23 — 08.19.23
───── Life in WindClan continues normally: Brightshine moves into the nursery, while Cottonpaw's first herb patrol commences and Scorchstreak trains tunnelers in the art of camp-defense. Baffling observers is an odd twoleg creation discovered by Lilacstem, and Mousepaw creates some mystery of his own by leaving Wolfsong a gift in secret. Not all is amiable between clanmates, though, as Thriftpaw publicly confronts Periwinklebreeze to reject his friendship, drawing to light old wounds which divide WindClan between trust and suspicion. It may not be the greatest test of clanmates' faith in one another, as an invisible killer stalks the clans, reaching WindClan unawares via ThunderClan patrol. It is only at this moon's Gathering that Blazestar reveals its deadliness.

ISSUE 9 ╱ 08.19.23 — 09.08.23
───── Illness erupts in SkyClan and quickly makes its way over to WindClan. In a meeting, Sootstar orders all cats who show symptoms to present themselves to Wolfsong immediately. Not long after, Azaleafrost, Brightshine, Gravelsnap, Whitepaw, Sootstar, and Sunstride fall ill. Wolfsong treats them with lungwort, the cure to the illness that has been dubbed yellow-cough, but there's only so much of the herb to go around…

Retroactively, Brightshine has moved into the nursery! With Wolfsong's own pregnancy in mind, WindClan prepares for their nursery to be full again.

On some not so great news… in the past moon WindClan has lost Venomthroat and Snailstride. The clan mourns the loss of the two warriors and hopes they find swift breezes and fast hunting in StarClan.

At least the tunnelers are making progress on their project! Well- maybe, looks like they might've taken a wrong turn… They're battling it out with a badger!

ISSUE 10 ╱ 09.09.23 — 09.22.23
─────After meeting with the leaders of the other clans, Sootstar has agreed to send her healthiest warriors to the mountains to retrieve the cure for their ill. Among the volunteers is Scorchstreak, who Sootstar gives charge to lead the group.

Meanwhile, Lambcurl, Weaselclaw, and Moorpaw have fallen ill. Wolfsong with Sootstar's reluctant agreement, elects that the sick should hole up in the badgerset den to slow down the spread of yellow-cough. It seems they might've been too late to act as not long after Mintshade joins them.

For some positive news, Wolfsong has successfully given birth to five kits, Rivekit, Bearkit, Sunlitkit, Featherkit and Singedkit. Brightshine's kits have also arrived, though causing a bit more of a stir. Regardless, WindClan welcomes Pinkkit, Heathkit, Finchkit and Downykit.

All good things come to an end, however. Badgermoon and Curlewnose 'betray' Sootstar in a brief confrontation. The two run for the hills and Sootstar deceptively informs the clan of the deputy's betrayal. The next sunrise, Sootstar promptly replaces him and makes Sunstride the new deputy. During the same meeting, the journeying cats are advised to rest for the mission ahead and Mousepaw, who is among them, is given his warrior name, Mouseflight.

At the gathering, the journeying cats bid their farewells before taking off. Despite the remaining crowd being small, the five leaders proceed to share their news. When Sootstar shares her news she promptly accuses Cicadastar and Blazestar of housing Badgermoon, as the two clans have a history of taking WindClan 'traitors' and exiles. When prompted for more information, Sootstar denies and states she will only share the details with whatever clan confesses to having Badgermoon. Both leaders deny her accusation, if either of them hold the former deputy they've remained stone-faced.

Once home, two of Weaselclaw and Sootstar's kits are made warriors. Addervenom and Harrierstripe.

Yellow-cough shows its teeth, Lambcurl succumbs to his fever in his sleep. Weaselclaw begins to suffer from delusions before he succumbs as well, successfully tipping Sootstar over the edge. Grief-stricken and angrier with StarClan than ever before, she returns to camp and announces the death of her mate and long time lead warrior.

ISSUE 11 ╱ 09.22.23 — 10.01.23
───── WindClan struggles in the throes of Yellowcough, without the healthy warriors needed to catch their swift moorland prey. They go hungry for most of it, and fight desperately against the rogues that steal what is rightfully theirs. Azaleafrost, Venomstrike, Harrierstripe, and Mothmoon all come into conflict with those that creep closer to the borders. Azaleafrost and Venomstrike are both left wounded.

Though WindClan may be thankful that these scuffles did not claim any lives, they are not so lucky with Yellowcough– Rosepool, Snakehiss' mother, passes away in the badger sett, and the young tunneler Petalpaw collapses in camp after quietly fighting sickness. Many in the clan are left shaken with their losses, and a sensation of hopelessness overshadows all that they do.

ISSUE 12 ╱ 02.06.24 — 02.14.24
───── With Windclan's territory finally retaken by the rebels, the clan as a whole focuses their efforts on rebuilding and returning camp to a sense of normalcy following the end of Sootstar's reign. While the rest of the clan works dutifully in his absence, Sunstride goes to inform the other clans of Windclan's new change in leadership, as well as warn them of Sootstar's escaped loyalists. With his return, he shares the news of Harrierstripe's death following his attack on Skyclan's leader, Blazestar. There is at least a sense of life in the clan alongside this news though, with the abandoned children of Harbingermoon and Hollowcreek being named through the combined efforts of Nightingalecry, Wolfsong, and Brightshine.

Shortly following his return from the other four clans, Sunstride holds a trial for the still imprisoned Sootstar, offering other Windclanners the chance to try and speak out in her defense before her inevitable end. With only her children stepping forward to beg for a quick end to things, Sootstar is finally put to an end through the combined efforts of the clan and eventually Sunstride. With her presence looming over Windclan no longer, Sunstride goes to receive his nine lives from Starclan, eventually returning with the newly blessed name of Sunstar.

Unwilling to hesitate or waste any more time, Sunstar hosts his first meeting directly after his return, forming his first lead warrior council with the familiar faces of Scorchstreak and Bluepool, along with the new additions Rattleheart and Periwinklebreeze. Bluefrost and Snakehiss are also offered a chance to prove themselves once more through probation, while Yewberry and Slatetooth are also given the new names of Irispath and Slateheart. They are not the only ones given new names for the future, with a handful of new warriors named during the meeting, including Scorchstorm, Redheart, Heathermoon, and Whitedawn. A former barn cat named Puff was also welcomed into the clan, and renamed to the fitting new title of Lavenderpaw. Several apprentices were also reassigned following the loss of many loyalists and trust in certain cats, with Sunlitpaw being reassigned to Foxglare, Downypaw being reassigned to Rattleheart, and Rivepaw finally being reassigned to Sunstar himself. Sunstar was also not the only one offering new names, with Wolfsong announcing that Cottonfang's recent meeting with StarClan had led to her once again taking on the name of Cottonpaw.

The period following Sunstar's first meeting is not wholly peaceful and uneventful though, with the sudden return of Sedgepounce shocking many in the clan - especially with the severe wounds he sustained.

ISSUE 13 ╱ 02.15.24 — 03.02.24
───── Spring usually heralds beginnings, and as winter nears its end, the past has found new life in the present. Badgermoon, former deputy to Sootstar and exiled alongside Curlewnose, returns, and Sunstar allows the pair to re-enter the fold, with Curlewnose receiving careful treatment of an infected wound. They are not the only surprise to find WindClan's border, nor are they the only fruition of soured relationships; Berrysnap of DuskClan entrusts WindClan with a litter of kittens born from a doomed bond with Snakehiss, who flounders under his newfound fatherhood.

As the snow melts and Sootstar's shadow dims, not everyone finds second chances in WindClan's border. Sunnyday, a former warrior-turned-barncat who lent his claws to Sunstar, departs for Twolegplace once more.

Of course, the world spins ever on, and WindClan's youth grow with every sunrise. While Pinkpaw outgrows her fever-pelt, Sheepkit eats fresh-kill for the first time, Lakekit declares Rattleheart her mentor, Frightkit names Spotkit as her mate in full kit-like fashion, and Violetkit leads bright young minds in a gathering of the kits (which quickly spirals into declarations of war).

As of March 1st, WindClan officially heads into newleaf, and though Sunstar leads the clan into recovery, he cautions that RiverClan may not uphold this new, fragile peace. Given Smokestar's response at the Gathering, wariness is not unreasonable. Even so, only time will tell what waits for WindClan during these coming moons of warmth. We can only hope to grow in the light of the sun and avoid its shadows.

ISSUE 14 ╱ 03.02.24 — 03.17.24
───── The blooming of flowers promises a bountiful newleaf for WindClan, and the clan rejoices in the celebration. Things seem to be looking up for WindClan, marked by their choice to present a united front at the gathering by decorating their pelts with flowers, and two separate groups of cats seeking to join. Having been among those to help during WindClan's exile, Sunstar welcomes Kat as well as Celandine and Grave.

Beneath the flower roots, the clan focuses heavily on the tunnels. Scorchstreak leads a cleanup of the poorly maintained tunnels, while Rattleheart works on outright rebuilding some and teaching the youngsters of the clan about tunnel safety. Such a lesson could never have been more important, as Flickeringfire is faced with a fox underground, and a tunneling patrol came across water underground, threatening their expansion towards the gorge.

Later, Sunstar sends his lead warriors back into danger as he asks them to watch ThunderClan from the tunnels. Howlingstar asked WindClan access to their territory so that they might lead the wolves plaguing them to death in the gorge, and while Sunstar accepted, he could not risk his clan. The two tunnelers were to keep watch while the rest of the clan sheltered in camp and guarded their young should things have gone poorly.

Though no WindClanners were lost during the chase, many cats are still mourning what has happened before this tenuous peace. Both Periwinklebreeze and Sootspot mourn their lost, Periwinkle tending to graves and Sootspot forced to fashion his own.

ISSUE 15 ╱ 03.17.24 — 06.03.24
───── Amidst and underneath the bloom, WindClan's tireless work finally comes to fruition: the completion of tunnels leading straight to RiverClan's doorstep is to be celebrated. For a moment longer, they can breathe and rejoice in their strength. Two new apprentices in the shape of Blizzardpaw and Spotpaw strengthen the ranks. Some meet new kittens under Periwinklebreeze's wing with mixed emotions, where others mourn the death of Heathermoon.

The moor is shadowed with StarClan's warning, and soon loses its crown of flowers as fire spreads and destroys everything in its path, seemingly orchestrated by Twolegs. Disaster strikes again when Sunstar is mauled by a dog and thrown over a wall of fire, leaving the Clan without a leader or deputy to help them through the chaos. Scorchstreak takes the responsibility upon her shoulders, requesting Smokestar's permission to evacuate over their shared borders and into the safety of wetland. Able-bodied tunnelers and moor-runners risk their lives in order to save as much of the territory and camp as possible, but the majority of the fire is put out thanks to star-blessed rain.

Returning to normalcy is difficult when most of their land is barren and covered in soot. Not even the graduation of four warriors and five apprentices, like a beacon of light, can soothe the pain of loss after Bearpaw's passing ─ now named Bearflight. Sunstar attempts to uphold a powerful image of WindClan by mostly sending fresh warriors to the Gathering.

Snakehiss views the eclipse and fire as StarClan's way of showing disdain towards Sunstar, but is exiled after confronting the leader. The disappearance of both Sunflowermask and Slateheart shake WindClan further, although the latter returns to them safe and sound. With two new litters and Sunstar's clear display of endurance, hope seems to be returning... but not without the panic-inducing accident that buries Mouseflight alive. His fate rests in the diligent paws of tunnelers picked by Scorchstreak now.

ISSUE 16 ╱ 06.04.24 — 07.02.24
───── This past moon has progress and struggle abound— especially the latter. The good news: Mouseflight was rescued by the patrol mentioned in the last update, and Rattleheart and Venomstrike's kits continue to develop while other young WindClanners discover the joys of eating and catching bugs. But tragedy, ever eager, strikes in quick succession. After Sunstar stresses the dire consequences of the fire, namely lack of prey, the lead warrior Bluepool gathers a hunting patrol. She leads them to RiverClan in a bid to steal prey, but as a scuffle ensues, RiverClanner Ferngill pushes Bluepool over the Gorge and to her death, leaving her mate Scorchstreak devastated. Scorchstreak's relationship with Sunstar becomes strained. Bluepool is not the only WindClanner lost. Cygnetstare is found killed by a monster on the Thunderpath, leaving behind distraught children, and Gracklestep was found murdered in suspicious circumstances, much to Dimmingsun's complex, conflicted dismay.

Needless to say, the WindClan which arrives at the Gathering is heavy-hearted. After Sunstar reveals Bluepool's death and the clans learn of their prey-stealing, Chilledstar slaps Sunstar. From there, the Gathering spirals into bickering, and Wolfsong, after insulting ShadowClan's honor, takes a blood-drawing blow from Lilacfur, and StarClan promptly covers the moon. Angry and bitter, WindClan returns home— only to discover that during their absence, Granitepelt has invaded camp with DuskClan, and a fiercely desperate battle ensues. This, too, is not without loss. Sunstar loses two lives while battling Granitepelt, while Rivewhisper, Firefang, Gravelsnap, Marmotbite, and Witherkit sustain injuries. Following the old adage of an eye for an eye, DuskClan's Juncoclaw, taken captive, has lost the use of an eye— as has Dimmingsun. To make matters worse, it is quickly apparent that Vulturekit is missing, taken in the battle, and Periwinklebreeze leads an urgent patrol. Fortunately, Vulturekit returns home with the patrol, seemingly none the worse for wear. However, during the battle, Nightingalecry was killed defending the nursery, so Periwinklebreeze –and WindClan– must mourn another treasured clanmate.

In response to recent events, Sunstar hosts a council meeting, where tensions rise when the distrusted Sootspot interrupts.

Much has befallen the moor clan, and newcomers such as Ukalek (hailing from Sunstar and Wolfsong's homeland and renamed Harefoot) and Celandinepaw's barncat siblings will not find their start an easy one. WindClan sees apprentices become warriors, and the newly-named Downyfur, Pinkshine, Quietcrow, and Kitecall will be much-needed in the coming moons.

ISSUE 17 ╱ 07.03.24 — 07.27.24
───── Balance is necessary, and as such, last moon's chaos is followed by reason to celebrate: Cottonpaw finishes her medicine cat training and StarClan names her Cottonsprig. Medicine cat business is a never-ending dance; her and Wolfsong take the time to warn WindClan of a deadly herb's recent discovery.

A sense of normalcy settles into the recovering moors. Greenleaf soars and gifts some with pretty sights or heavy downpour, but curses others with bad luck. Between Vulturekit's dutiful endeavors and Hollyhockpurr's reminiscence, the council urges Sunstar to attend the Gathering, despite how the last one ended up — and they end up victorious, even if the vote is not unanimous. Where some itch for the trip to Fourtrees, WindClan's prisoner just wishes to stretch her legs.

Honeysucklekit is unaware of how she hits the nail right on the head while questioning Periwinklebreeze about parenthood; he manages to find yet another lost litter, much to the Clan's dismay. A loner spotted near the border as well as a stray spirit found by Cottonsprig leaves everyone feeling a little bit on edge about the overwhelming presence of outsiders... at the very least, Venomstrike seems to have a trick up his sleeve and keeps the nursery entertained... though that proves to not be enough as sickness starts to slowly form.

Tragedy strikes when everyone least expects it. Poor little Blizzardpaw meets a premature demise, and the Clan mourns the loss — her name being changed to Lilypaw in the process.
