Take a look at Site History if you'd like to hear more about the forest before the Clans!
JULY 2022: In obedience with StarClan's calling to 'spread and grow like the creeper vine', ThunderClan is formed by Ember. The newborn Clan stands as tall and proud as the oak trees that take up the forest they settle into. Upon arriving at their new camp they find they were not the first to discover the well-protected clearing and meet Quail, Wildflower and Kindle. The loners turn out to be friendly and display their hospitality offering to show ThunderClan around the best hunting spots in the forest.
+ A loner named Tybalt joins the Clan, later becoming Stagstrike.
+ A loner named Starling joins the Clan, later becoming Starlingpaw.
+ A queen named Cotton joins the Clan with her two kits. They later become Cottontail, Milkykit, and Violetkit.
+ A loner named Vox joins the Clan, later becoming Hawkclaw.
+ A loner named Plover joins the Clan, later becoming Ploverpaw.
Salamander, a marsh colony cat turned loner, is led by a vision of a hare to the Moonstone. Once inside, she dreams of Hare Whiskers, the first leader of the marsh colony. He informs her of her destiny to be ThunderClan's first medicine cat and renames her Cinderfrost.
Emberstar, too, is drawn to the Moonstone and finds the she-cat she knows as Salamander slumbering before it. Succumbing to the pull of StarClan, she awakens in a starry clearing for her nine lives ceremony and is blessed with the name of a leader, Emberstar.
The two return to ThunderClan's forest as leader and medicine cat. Cinderfrost finds she cannot set aside her blame on Emberstar for the death of one of her kin. Branding her new leader a murderer, Cinderfrost lands a fatal blow on Emberstar's underbelly.
Awaking from her first life loss, Emberstar forgives quickly and orders her Clan to refrain from attacking Cinderfrost. The leader explains StarClan has revealed Cinderfrost to be ThunderClan's medicine cat and that she is to stay within ThunderClan despite the harm she's caused. The Clan responds with fear and outrage, but Emberstar holds firm to her and StarClan's word.
AUGUST 2022: For the first time in the history of the Clans, Emberstar introduces mentorship to ThunderClan. Warriors and apprentices are paired up and she denotes apprentices are to have the '-paw' suffix at the end of their names.
After the first Gathering since the creation of the Clans, Emberstar appoints Howling Wind as ThunderClan's first deputy.
SEPTEMBER 2022:
Sparks from the fire in ShadowClan land stirs up a small fire in ThunderClan's lush forest. In hopes that it would distinguish the Clan tries to wait it out. When the smoke begins to suffocate the Camp and the fire grows dangerously close, Emberstar finally orders for the Clan to evacuate to the Sandy Hollow. In the ruckus, much of the Clan becomes trapped within the camp and Emberstar loses her second life upon being crushed by a falling branch.
Flycatcher and Meadowflame hastily make it to the RiverClan border and yowl for help. Heeding their pleas, Cicadastar leads a patrol into ThunderClan territory to save the survivors. Days later after the fire has settled and most have recovered, Emberstar brings her Clan home to a burned and ruined camp
OCTOBER 2022:
Pitchstar, ShadowClan's leader, storms up to the ThunderClan border demanding Emberstar. Before Pitchstar can explain Cinderfrost reveals he is here for her after she had attacked Bonejaw, ShadowClan's medicine cat, at the Moonstone. Pitchstar demands Emberstar to exile Cinderfrost for her crimes, threatening that ShadowClan will bring justice themselves if she refuses. Emberstar asks ShadowClan to leave their border and to entrust her to do what must be done.
Upon their return to camp, Emberstar banishes Cinderfrost for her crimes. The former medicine cat's apprentice, Berryheart, is asked to take her place as ThunderClan's new medicine cat.
NOVEMBER 2022:
DECEMBER 2022: As prey becomes scarce, a skirmish breaks out at the SkyClan border after a squirrel is caught past the scent-lines. In the frenzy, Morningpaw is accidentally killed by a SkyClan apprentice, Snowpaw. Morningpaw is brought to SkyClan camp in an effort to save her but she succumbs to her injuries. Flamewhisker returns to ThunderClan and breaks the news of Morningpaw's passing.
As a result of Morningpaw's death, Emberstar proposes the very first warrior code at the Gathering; "Defend your Clan even at the cost of your life, you can have friends in other Clans, but your first loyalty is to your own Clan. One day you may meet your friends in other Clans in battle". The other four leaders agree, and the code is to be followed going forward.
X Howlpaw and Fireflypaw leave ThunderClan for SkyClan.
Under the guise of providing a shoulder to lean on, Trufflepelt attempts to kill a grieving Howling Wind. In and out of consciousness, Howling Wind is discovered bleeding out by her Clanmates and informs them of Trufflepelt's actions - his intent to harm Little Wolf and her kits, too.
Emberstar recruits a patrol out onto the territory to find and confront Trufflepelt. Upon being found, he reveals to them that he believes StarClan has told him to send all those with irreparable suffering to StarClan to rid them of their pain. Seeing through his delusions, the patrol attacks him, but Trufflepelt manages to slip away and flee the territory.
X Mossypaw is stolen by Twolegs.
JANUARY 2023: A blizzard sweeps through the territories overnight and the warriors wake to a wall of snow trapping them in the den. The apprentice's are quick to realize they've also been snowed in and remain stuck for the better part of the morning.
In the midst of a frosty famine and the Clan struggling to maintain a balance between the warriors and growing number of apprentices, a border skirmish breaks out when ThunderClan warriors find a ShadowClan patrol hunting on their territory. ShadowClan's desperation during the harsh leaf-bare becomes more apparent when they are caught within the forest territory for a second time, resulting in another skirmish.
Nightbird leads a hunting patrol to Snakerocks and discover a pack of dogs have taken residence there. The patrol quickly returns to camp with their news. While cautionary efforts are enforced, tensions are high with the threat in the territory.
When Emberstar is mortally wounded by dogs in an effort to save Ragwortpaw. The apprentice rushes to camp seeking help. Despite Berryheart's best efforts, ThunderClan's founder loses her last life and travels to StarClan.

After Emberstars vigil, Howling Wind calls ThunderClan to action against the pack of three dogs. With Howling Wind at the head of a scouting patrol, the mission is quickly abandoned when the patrol discovers the dogs have traveled deep in the forest. After discovering the pack has relocated to Sunningrocks and without help from neighboring RiverClan, ThunderClan is left to confront the pack themselves.
Before the final battle, Howling Wind travels to the Moonstone to receive her nine lives and returns as Howlingstar. After a night of strategizing, three separate battle patrols arrive at Sunningrocks, where, as the fastest warrior, Silverlightning has been tasked with luring the pack to the top of Sunningrocks.
Upon their arrival, the patrols are horrified to find that only two dogs are there. Flycatchers patrol is quickly sent back to defend camp. With only the fighting power of two patrols, ThunderClan is successful in leading the two dogs into a watery grave, where Silverlightning is tragically swept away with them and thought to be lost. By the time Flycatcher's patrol arrives at camp, a dog has already broken into camp, and queens, warriors, apprentices, and medicine cats alike have banded together to protect the Clan. With the reinforcements of Flycatchers patrol, ThunderClan is able to chase the dog out, making them victorious.
FEBRUARY 2023:
Despite the Clans victory against the dog pack, the fight against hunger and depleting resources shows no sign of waning, even with newleaf on the horizon. Howlingstar informs the Clan's that ThunderClan had taken care of the dog problem during the following Gathering, and in light of Cicadastar's dismissal towards Howlingstar when ThunderClan had been made to fight off the beasts from RiverClan's territory, she requests ThunderClan be granted hunting rights to Sunningrocks. When Cicadastar refuses, Howlingstar's council suggests the idea of simply taking the rocks altogether. After moons of struggling to feed the Clan while watching RiverClan grow plump on their river-dwelling fish while the prey that dwelled in the rocks proved useless to them, Howlingstar announces the plan to take Sunningrocks to the Clan.
MARCH 2023: ThunderClan prevails in the Battle of Sunningrocks, though not without the heavy weight of blood spilled. Howlingstar loses her first life while in the heat of battle to a furious RiverClan warrior, Clayfur.
Sunfreckle, who was tasked to chase away a singular SkyClanner who answered RiverClans plea for help, makes a safe return shortly after the victorious battle party returns, heavily wounded but triumphant.
Between the Clans, while claws remain sheathed, tensions still remain high between ThunderClan and ShadowClan patrols, and ThunderClan receives an unexpected visitor when Sootstar comes to the shared border between WindClan and ThunderClan, and demands an audience with Howlingstar to propose a truce between their two Clans after WindClans alliance with ShadowClan has shattered. Howlingstar politely declines, stating that ThunderClan will remain independen; Sootstar seemingly accepts the rejection with grace.
APRIL 2023:
↑ Raccoonstripe and Nightbird are promoted to Lead Warriors.
During the Gathering, Chilledstar reveals WindClanners trespassed and attacked their deputy in retaliation to the two Clans' alliance breaking. The ShadowClan leader proposes a new code: "do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory." The law was agreed upon by all five leaders and put into the Warrior Code.
+ Another kit named Dogbait is found and rescued. The two are discovered to be littermates and are renamed Oakkit and Acornkit.
MAY 2023: While on a border patrol, Little Wolf discovers RiverClan scent at Sunningrocks. The trespassing comes to a head when In the middle of the night, RiverClanners cross the border into ThunderClans territory, Flycatcher and his patrol confront the trespassers and a skirmish ensues, which ends in the RiverClanners retreat.
A devastated Sunnyday rushes to camp after a training session went awry, resulting in his apprentice, Sandpaw, dislocating her leg. Sunnyday's mentor privileges are promptly revoked.
+ A lost kitten stumbles upon ThunderClan's border. They're taken in and named Marigoldkit.
JUNE 2023: A routine hunting patrol of four returns as three when Kindleheart, Rabbitnose, and Roeflame come into camp carrying the body of Graystorm. It is revealed that Howlingstar's son had been killed by great, unfamiliar beasts, which are soon found out to be wild boars migrating through the forest.
Flycatcher leads a small patrol through the forest in hopes of learning more about the beasts and tracking them. In the days that follow, there are several violent encounters with the wild boars, including a hunting patrol led by Flamewhisker, which chased the group into the trees.
Alongside the new danger that haunted warriors and apprentice from leaving camp alone, Berryheart also discovers that his marigold patch has been trampled and is now unusable.
JULY 2023: A dawn patrol led by Killdeercry discovers that the boars have finally left the territory. Howlingstar gathers the Clan for a meeting and announces that the threat has passed, ThunderClan is able to feel comfortable in the oak forest once more.
AUGUST 2023: Unbeknownst to the Clans, something deadly has begun to take root and seep infection into the forest, after a brief conversation with a passing SkyClan patrol, its sickly tendrils have spread into the oak forest.
Soon after the visit with SkyClan, Berryheart returns from his meeting with the other medicine cats carrying troubling news; a SkyClanner has fallen incredibly ill with an unprecedented sickness. The next day, Frostglare falls critically ill, his health rapidly degrading by the day. Roeflame is the next warrior to be taken down by this strange sickness, exhibiting symptoms when she abruptly leaves a patrol due to a fever and dizziness. Sleekpaw crumbles during a sparring session, showing signs of a respiratory infection and a fever.
X Coalkit goes missing in the night.
Frostglare, the first to fall ill, succumbs to the disease within a quarter moon of becoming symptomatic. The warrior's death inflicts horror through ThunderClan, leaving Berryheart stricken with hopelessness; the medicine cat had tried every concoction of herbs he could think of, and this illness had overcome them all.
Berryheart nearly collapses leaving the medicine den, it becomes clear he has contracted the illness, which has been dubbed yellow-cough. Working against a fevered clock, Berryheart is unrelenting in his efforts to find an effective treatment. After four laboring days, the medicine cat reaches for lungwort. On the fifth day, he began to regain his strength. After ten sunrises, Berryheart is certain he has found the cure. After administering it to the sick in his den, he calls on Howlingstar. The ThunderClan leader sends patrols to all four borders, and the news of the discovery spreads like wildfire.
X Basilwhisker is exiled after taking justice into his own paws and attempting to chase Sunnyday out of ThunderClan via the Thunderpath.
X After being found by ShadowClan, Sunnyday refuses to return to ThunderClan.
X An elder named Foxpoppy passes from complications associated with yellow-cough.
SEPTEMBER 2023: Howlingstar announces that a third law has been added to the Warrior Code: "Elders, queens, sick or injured cats, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders."
The cure for Yellowcough has been discovered, but sickness is still rampant, and the lungwort in the forest is quickly diminishing. Berryheart is visited by StarClan in a dream, his troubles are answered with a prophecy; "The vine will not grow without all of its leaves." During the next meeting with the other medicine cats, it is discovered that all had received mysterious messages of creeper vines, snowy mountains, and a warning for survival; the Clans must work together, united to retrieve the cure from the mountain tops. The leaders come together to discuss the new revelations, and it is decided that each leader will send a group of their own on this perilous journey, for the forest's survival.
Howlingstar brings this news to her clan, alongside the heavy ask for volunteers.
The following ThunderClanner's volunteer themselves to make the journey:
✦ Flamewhisker, lead warrior.
✦ Nightbird, lead warrior.
✦ Little Wolf, warrior.
✦ Batwing, warrior.
✦ Hailstorm, warrior.
✦ Lightstrike, warrior.
✦ Stormywing, warrior.
✦ Stormpaw, apprentice.
The volunteers from all five clans depart for their journey under the next full moon. See the journey's history here: (journey history is currently a WIP! Check back soon)
Dovepaw is found dead in the forest, murdered by his mentor who was quick to flee.
Asterflame dies due to a head injury.
X Hollow Tree goes missing in the night.
Burnstorm discovers abandoned prey scraps in the territory covered in an unknown scent, causing a troubling stir amongst the clan. The next day, an emboldened rogue is caught over the border and promptly chased out. The outside presence is quick to escalate into a threat when Honeydapple is attacked by another trespassing rogue.
OCTOBER 2023: From Honeydapple's attack, the rogue's violence only grows. Their limitless desperation leaves them unhesitant to kill, and eagerly seeking out opportunities for a fight.
WindClan is found on the border beaten and battered and reveals that they have been chased out of their camp by the rogues. Howlingstar allows WindClan to shelter in the Sandy Hollow while they regain their strength.
During the following Gathering, RiverClan's deputy, Smokethroat, shares that they have met the same exile from their camp as WindClan, and that their leader, Cicadastar, had been lost during the invasion. SkyClan reveals that the rogue troubles have reached their border as well. Sootstar proposes a new code in light of the rogues disgraces to the prey; "prey will only be killed to be eaten," and Smokethroat is the first to propose the addendum that they will give thanks to StarClan, forming the fourth code: "prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life."
Two days after the Gathering, ThunderClan's camp is the next to be overrun by rogues in the night, knowing they are outnumbered, ThunderClan has no choice but to flee to the untouched ShadowClan border alongside WindClan. Upon their arrival, it is discovered both SkyClan and RiverClan have been forced to seek the same refuge.
♥ In ShadowClan's camp, Maplepatch gives birth to a singular she-kit.
Knowing that ShadowClan's territory would not be able to sustain all five Clans for long, Blazestar steps forward to propose a plan; the five Clans of the forest unite and take back the four lost camps one by one. With all five leaders in agreement, the strategizing is swift to follow.
United, five Clans go to war as one, the fight for ThunderClan's camp is the third in the line of four, preceded by WindClan and RiverClan. SkyClan's camp won back last. Upon the victory in SkyClan, the Clans have prevailed in the cats are able to fetch their young, sick, and old from ShadowClans territory and return home at last.
♥ Leopardtongue gives birth to four kits. One is unfortunately stillborn.
Nightbird, Stormywing, and Batwing appear on the border, having successfully returned from their journey with lungwort. The returning cats share the tragic news of Little Wolf's death and Stormpaw's critical injury, the latter explaining the missing journey cats whereabouts, as they stayed behind to carry the apprentice home. Flamewhisker, Hailstorm, Lightstrike, and Stormpaw return only a few sunrises after.
NOVEMBER 2023: Howlingstar confirms the lungworts success against fighting the spread of Yellowcough, and reports that those currently infected will be fully cured within the quarter-moon.
During the Gathering, Smokestar reveals that during his journey to the moonstone to receive his nine lives, he and his warrior escorts had been attacked and nearly killed by WindClan warriors, and to every leader's horror, he warns that Sootstar has set a claim on Highstones. Days later, the RiverClan leader's accusations are proven true when WindClan warriors attempt to stop Berryheart and Hailstorm from reaching the Moonstone. While the WindClanners were ultimately unsuccessful, it was not without bloodshed.
DECEMBER 2023:
JANUARY 2024:
After three four moon old SkyClan apprentices are seriously injured on an outing, Blazestar of SkyClan proposes a new addition to the warrior code. "A kit must be at least six moons to become an apprentice."
Sunstride, WindClan's deputy, appears on the border. He announces that Sootstar's reign has come to an end, as well as her claim on Highstones.
FEBRUARY 2024: During an early morning patrol, Batwing stumbles upon a massive herd of deer passing through the territory Upon relaying the news to Howlingstar, it is agreed that warriors and apprentices should be using extra caution when out in the territory for the time being.
↑ Hailstorm returns from Highstones as a full medicine cat; he announces that StarClan has given him a new name, Gentlestorm.
The warriors keep a close eye on the herd Unbeknownst to the Clan, where a deer herd grazed, a wolf pack was not far behind. It isn't until a dusk patrol led by Freckleflame discovers a singular wolf nearby Snakerocks that the danger's existence is realized.
After gruesome remains are found by an herb patrol, the Clan soon realizes there is an entire pack of wolves hunting on their territory.
MARCH 2024: During the Clan meeting following the death of Acornwish, Howlingstar addresses the deadliness of the wolf pack and implements cautionary measures, which include entrusting the newly made warriors, Badgerstripe, Palefire, Lightflower, and Phloxdawn to guard the camp overnight.
↑ Raccoonstripe is promoted to stand-in deputy while Flamewhisker is in the nursery.
Jackdawflight is killed during a wolf attack.
When night falls, the new warriors guarding the Camp soon grow restless and decide to abandon their post for a celebratory stroll. With no one watching over Camp, there is no cat to warn the sleeping Clan when the wolves discover ThunderClan's Camp. Awoken by howls, ThunderClan is abruptly forced to flee from their home.
Sunfreckle is killed defending the nursery.
Finding sanctuary at the top of the ravine, Howlingstar is unable to lead her Clan back to their ravaged camp until the next morning.
During the after-math, the whereabouts of ThunderClan's newest warriors is discovered. Knowing the Clan would be destroyed if they did not confront the wolves, Raccoonstripe gathers the able warriors for a strategy session, where Leafhusk proposes the unthinkable: a group of ThunderClan warriors would serve as wolf bait. Using the Clan's swiftest runners, the warriors would lure the wolves into the Gorge. With the addition of a second back-up patrol, the plan is set. With Batwing leading the first patrol of volunteers, the plan is set into motion at Snakerocks, where the hunt begins.
During the chase, Duskbird attempts to save Howlingstar from a wolf. Both lives are lost by the time the wolf is satisfied to rejoin the main chase, but Howlingstar is able to awaken thanks to her grandson's courage. As the rest of the volunteers near the Gorge, Batwing realizes the six wolves at their heels were too smart to absent-mindedly fling themselves into the Gorge without a prize in their sights. Before a stall can risk their plan, Batwing sacrifices his life for ThunderClan by leading the pack of wolves into the Gorge himself.
The triumphant patrol returns to camp with Duskbird and their injured, sharing the mournful news of the lives lost in their success. The vigil that follows is used to honor the dead, and the sacrifices they made to ensure ThunderClan's future.
As the full moon approaches, Howlingstar is still recovering from her grave injuries and sends Raccoonstripe in her stead. Yet, while in camp Howlingstar cannot move on from the new warriors' discrepancies the night of the invasion, and decides a change needs to be made. With the help of the four warriors, Howlingstar makes the trek to the Fourtree's to propose a new addition to the warrior code: "Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name."
Howlingstar loses a life saving Littlekit from an eagle, and is carried away in the process. Two days later, the leader makes a miraculous return on the shoulder of a stranger. Introducing her as Thundergleam, Howlingstar announces she will be joining ThunderClan's ranks, as she had guided Howlingstar back home.
APRIL 2024:
SkyClan's leader Orangestar and her medicine cat Dawnglare arrive at the border, Dawnglare offers to stay with ThunderClan for a time in an effort to help Gentlestorm become a fully trained medicine cat quicker.
Without warning, the sun disappears from the sky in the middle of the day. Hidden by the moon, the frightening phenomenon is dubbed "black hole sun." Could it be an angry omen from StarClan?
MAY 2024:
↑ Leafhusk is promoted to lead warrior.
While Dawnglare becomes settled within ThunderClans camp, Raccoonstripe rounds up a hunting patrol set for the SkyClan border. Upon reaching the border Raccoonstripe leads his patrol over into SkyClan's territory, reasoning that with ThunderClan's large influx of kittens, stealing from their neighbors was a necessary extreme. Despite their best efforts, the patrol is caught and a scuffle ensues, though the patrol still gets away with their catches. Upon their battered and bruised return to camp, many of the patrol members only show pride in having provided for the Clan for the Clan. Backlash from Clanmates prompts younger members to justify their actions with anti-kittypet rhetoric, weaponizing SkyClan's affiliation to them.
During the Gathering, Lichentail takes Smokestar's place on Tall Rock, announcing that the RiverClan leader has gone to join StarClan, and presenting themselves as RiverClan's new leader.
JUNE 2024: Dawnglare believes Gentlestorm has no more use for his training, and heads back home to SkyClan.
Roeflame overhears one of the older apprentices, Smokepaw, bashing Stormywing for her kittypet background to a group of apprentices, including Stormywing's own apprentice, Fallowpaw. Though discipline is quick to come, the few apprentices who seemed to be showing Smokepaw silent support is troubling. It seems several of the other apprentices share Smokepaw's views, and tensions begin to escalate between forest-born and kittypet-born.
RiverClan's medicine cat, Moonbeam, frantically appears on ThunderClans border with a plea for Gentlestorms help. Gentlestorm answers her cry for help and makes a hasty exit with little forewarning to his Clan. Upon his return, despite his Clanmates scorn, the situation prompts Gentlestorm to begin working with Moonbeam so she can become a fully-trained medicine cat.
During the Gathering, tensions amongst ShadowClan and RiverClan run rampant towards WindClan, who is accused of stealing prey from their territory. The bickering quickly dissolves into fighting, and blood is drawn from the WindClan medicine cat by a ShadowClan lead warrior. The Gathering is forced to come to an end when StarClan casts thunderclouds over the moon.
♥ Honeydapple gives birth to a singular kit.
JULY 2024: Unbeknownst to the Clan, the recent anti-kittypet rhetoric going around camp has taken root into something much more sinister. Skyclaw decides to hold a meeting with those that share the same forest-born ideology. Here, the group begins to set up plans to sabotage Howlingstar and snuff out kittypet blood in ThunderClan once and for all.
While participating in a hunting competition, two kittypet-blooded cats, Ploverhop and Roaringsun, are cornered by Redflower, Darkthistle, and Ravenstrike, who begin to threaten them. Luckily, the patrol is found by Flamewhisker before an attack can ensue.
X After confronting the trio, Howlingstar decides to have them exiled for their actions.
On the night of the exile, Howlingstar receives an ominous dream from StarClan, something dark is coming.
♥ Nightbird gives birth to five kits.
Moonwhisper is killed by rogues.
Howlingstar announces that Gentlestorm will be helping RiverClan's medicine cat, Moonbeam, complete her training.
AUGUST 2024:
Ploverhop is found hunting alone by Darkthistle, Redflower, and Briarsong, and is murdered. Later, their body is discovered by Freckleflame.
Shortly after Ploverhops discovery, Morningcloud is murdered by Skyclaw.
Pebblestep is the third to be killed during this short time period, murdered by Wrathpaw.
After Pebblesteps body is discovered, Howlingstar holds an emergency council meeting. The council agrees that the group being targeted is those who were kittypet-born and accepted under Emberstar's reign. However, Raccoonstripe's suggestion of sending them away for their safety is refused by Howlingstar, who is unwilling to send her Clanmates into unknown lands with rogues and the growing threat of DuskClan.
Shortly after the council meeting, Coltkit and Ivorykit are fed poisoned prey by an unknown warrior, luckily Gentlestorm is able to feed them both yarrow and save their lives. This incident gives Howlingstar no other choice than to ask Leafhusk to lead kittypet-born Clanmates to the Loner Lands, as their lives were no longer safe in camp.
With a portion of her Clan gone, Howlingstar and the council get to work on identifying who the traitors could be. At the same time, Skyclaw's scheming begins to come to a head as he orchestrates Howlingstars murder. Sproutberry, Wrathpaw, and Yewflame are given this assignment and attempt to drown Howlingstar. While she does lose her second to last life in the process, she is luckily saved by her RiverClan kin before her last can be taken. After her rescue, Fallowbite discovers her alive, and is convinced to switch sides. She courageously covers for Howlingstar in the face of her murderers so she is able to get back to camp.
Upon Howlingstar's return to camp, she reveals the identities of her murderers and Skyclaws betrayal. Though her efforts to expose her grandson are futile when Skyclaw also returns, challenging Howlingstar and revealing the true numbers of his meticulously built army. When she refuses to step down, Skyclaw flings Howlingstar off of the Highrock. The impact takes the ThunderClan leader's final life.

A shockwave of terror ripples across the Clan as Skyclaw declares himself ThunderClan's new leader. He sentences all cats with kittypet blood in them into exile, pardoning only his own kin. He instructs his warriors to kill anyone who fights against them. Those loyal to Howlingstar are outraged by his mutiny and spit words of defiance. Mousenose is the loudest of them, proclaiming that she is loyal to Howlingstar and Flamewhisker, not Skyclaw. For that, Ravenstrike kills her.
Surrounded by Skyclaw's lackeys, Flamewhisker's path to the usurper is blocked. While Howlingstar was loved by many, Skyclaw had amassed a large backing who shared his ideologies and hopes for a 'pure' ThunderClan. Though pained to give the order, Flamewhisker orders the cats loyal to her to hold back in fear they'd otherwise lose their lives.
In two days time, Flamewhisker hatches a plan to secretly meet with Howlingstar's council at Snakerocks. Roeflame and Raccoonstripe are present, along with Flamewhisker's self-assigned guard, Fallowbite. Flamewhisker instructs the lead warriors to keep an eye out for cats who were loyal to Howlingstar and to tell them that ThunderClan will prevail, that Howlingstar will be avenged, and to follow her when the time is right. To Fallowbite, she instructs it to travel to Leafhusk and Burnstorm as ThunderClan can't defeat Skyclaw without them. All three cats agree and depart to accomplish their tasks.
Meanwhile, in an act of defiance Wolfpaw whorls mud at SkyClaw's face. In response, Skyclaw instructs his apprentice, Mottledpaw, to show him the battle moves he taught her. She obeys and rakes her claws from Wolfpaw's lip to his chin in retribution for speaking out against and disrespecting their new leader.
SEPTEMBER 2024: Flamewhisker challenges Skyclaw for leadership of ThunderClan; giving him one chance to step down peacefully. Skyclaw refuses, forcing Flamewhisker to order her loyalist to attack. ThunderClan's camp turns into a whirlwind of teeth and claws as cats who once considered each other Clanmates attack each other.
After some time tussling, Flamewhisker manages to throw Skyclaw off of Highrock. He attempts to rise as he shares seething words with Raccoonstripe but is knocked back to the ground as pain overwhelms him. Raccoonstripe doesn't allow him to rise again and kills Skyclaw, his nephew who had once idolized him.
In the aftermath of the usurper's death, Flamewhisker calls her Clan together as their leader for the first time. She sets vigils for their fallen in motion and instructs her Clan to kill any followers of Skyclaw found on their territory. Before she can give further instruction, a furious Gentlestorm demands to know who put Wrathpaw, an injured Skyclaw follower, in his den. Orangepaw defends Wrathpaw and says he put the other apprentice in the medicine cat's den. He pleads for Gentlestorm to let him stay until he's healed and offers to sacrifice his own rations. Some bickering ensues before Flamewhisker silences them, saying she will cast judgment on Wrathpaw once he wakes before dismissing the meeting.
X Bigfang leaves the Clan to return to his old life as a kittypet; feeling he can no longer trust the cats of ThunderClan.
The following day, Flamewhisker announces her departure to the Moonstone with Gentlestorm to receive her nine lives. Roeflame is put in charge of the Clan until she returns.
Though exhausted, Flamewhisker returns to camp as Flamestar not long after . The Clan welcomes her home as ThunderClan's new leader.
↑ Vilefury, Antlerpoison, Carrionshriek, Doecry, and Wrathhowl are stripped of the names Skyclaw. They are once more known as Vixenpaw, Antlerbreeze, Softpaw, Doepath, and Wrathpaw.
↑ Softpaw, Vixenpaw, Tigerpaw, and Roaringpaw are turned into warriors. They're now known as Softsight, Vixencrown, Tigerwing, and Roaringsun.
Flamestar gathers her council to discuss what sentence they are to give Wrathpaw, who assisted in the murder of Howlingstar. They allow the apprentice to plead his case. Ultimately, the council unanimously agree ThunderClan's ranks have no room for murderers and they agree to exile Wrathpaw. Flamestar grants him the privilege to stay in the medicine cat's den, though once his wounds are healed he'll be escorted out of ThunderClan's territory.
At the Gathering, Flamestar shares the news of Howlingstar's passing and the uprising led by Skyclaw. She proposes a new code: "The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires, or is exiled." All of the four leaders agree, none wanting their Clan to ever go through the pain ThunderClan had to endure to crown their rightful leader.
OCTOBER 2024: Flamestar travels with Gentlestorm to RiverClan to reinstate the training agreement between their medicine cats that had been cut short by Skyclaw's uprising. RiverClan agrees and Gentlestorm is permitted to share his knowledge with Moonbeam once more.
At the Gathering, Mirestar subtly accuses ThunderClan of murdering Applejaw, a ShadowClan warrior, whose body had been found near ThunderClan's border.
